☀️ Hot summer days = restless baby sleep?

When temperatures stay high, babies can find it much harder to settle and stay asleep.

Here’s what you can do to help.them sleep.better:

🌡️ Keep the bedroom as cool & dark as possible during the day
💨 Use a fan to circulate the air (and get some white noise as a bonus!)
👶 Keep sleepwear VERY light — a diaper + lightweight sleeping is enough
🛁 Try a lukewarm bath before bedtime to help the body cool down
💧 Offer plenty of fluids throughout the day and a bit overnight too

And one thing we sometimes forget in summer: don’t hide from daylight all day. Natural morning light still plays an important role in supporting your baby’s sleep-wake rhythm.

Save this for the next hot night. ☀️💤

🧠 Baby Sleep Quiz No. 4

The dummy helps your baby calm down and sleep... until it doesn't. 👀

So, when is the best time to ditch the dummy to support better sleep for your baby?

🟡 A. Around 6–7 months

🔵 B. After 2.5 years

🟠 C. Whenever your child decides

There’s an important connection between pacifiers, independent sleep & night wakings that many parents don't realise.

And timing matters more than you might think. 😉

👇 A, B or C? Cast your vote in the comments.

🎥 I’ll reveal my answer in the next Reel and explain what we can do to use the dummy to support a child's sleep.

🕵️ Investigation Results: Baby Sleep Detective No. 6 👇

Thank you to everyone who joined this week's investigation! 🔍

Many of you picked up on important clues... but the biggest one for me was what happens during the night.

When a toddler is offered food, screen time or entertainment during a night waking, their brain quickly learns that being awake at night can be rewarding.

That's why my first recommendation would be to make nights... boring.

🌙 No banana. 🌙 No screen. 🌙 No entertainment.

Just a calm, predictable response that sends one clear message: night-time is for sleeping.

🧩 Looking at the whole sleep puzzle, I'd also investigate:

• Whether bedtime could be brought a little earlier to match Rian's natural sleep window.
• Whether he has enough opportunities for active movement during the day, instead of saving all that energy for the evening.
• Whether his diet contains enough protein and balanced meals to support steady energy levels and restful sleep.

🎥 Watch the Reel to see why these were the first clues that caught my attention.

🕵️ Baby Sleep Detective No. 6: The Midnight Banana Mystery 🌙

A new sleep mystery has landed on your desk...

This week, we're following the clues of 2-year-old Rian.

At bedtime, Rian falls asleep with Dad sitting beside him, reading a bedtime story.

🌗 During the night:
• Wakes 3–4 times
• Has one waking that lasts around 1 hour
• Parents usually offer him a banana during this awake time
• Sometimes settles only after some screen time

🌞 During the day:
• Often fights his lunchtime nap at home
• Sometimes falls asleep in the car on the way home from Kita
• Is a picky eater
• Has lots of energy in the evening

🧩 So... where do you think the missing piece of the sleep puzzle is?

If you were the Baby Sleep Detective...What would you investigate first? 🤔

Leave your theory in the comments before reading everyone else's answers.👇

🎥 Tomorrow, I'll reveal my Investigation Results and explain which clues immediately caught my attention and where I would begin helping Rian and his family.

Good luck, Sleep Detective! 🤞

🧠 Baby Sleep Quiz No. 3 – Answer Revealed!

The right answer is... C: Sleep associations.

Sleep associations are all the things we do to help our babies fall asleep: ex. feeding to sleep, rocking, bouncing, or walking until they're fully asleep.

The challenge? Babies naturally wake up several times a night between sleep cycles. If they fell asleep in a certain way at bedtime, they'll look for that same help every time they wake at night.

The good news is that you don't have to change everything overnight.

✨ Start by layering down the sleep associations. 👇

For example, instead of rocking your baby until they're fully asleep, try rocking until they're drowsy but still awake, then gently place them in their cot. Give them the opportunity to do that last little step on their own.

Small changes, repeated consistently, build big sleep skills.

💙 Your baby is more capable than you think. With your support, trust, and consistency, they can learn to fall asleep independently.

How does your baby usually fall asleep at bedtime? Tell me in the comments. 👇

🕵️ Investigation Results: Baby Sleep Detective No. 5

Thank you to everyone who joined this week's investigation! 🔍

This case reminded us of something very important...

Sometimes, the first step in improving sleep isn't a sleep strategy at all.

It's making sure your little one is medically ready for sleep coaching.

In Maya's case, her below-average weight immediately caught my attention. Before changing bedtime routines or reducing night wakings, I would first recommend discussing her growth, nutrition and overall health with her paediatrician.

Because if a baby or toddler isn't getting enough nutrition during the day, some night wakings may be caused by genuine hunger, not just habit.

Once we have medical clearance, I'd shift the focus to the pieces of the sleep puzzle that parents can actually influence.

🌙 Instead of worrying about naps at Kita (which are outside your control) I would focus on what happens at home.

I'd start with bedtime❗️

Maya has learned to fall asleep through prolonged rocking, so I would gradually replace this sleep association using a Gradual Withdrawal approach, helping her fall asleep with less and less parental assistance while still feeling safe and supported.

And during the second part of the night?

I'd stop bringing her into the family bed and instead gradually do less and less when responding to night wakings, giving Maya the opportunity to develop the skills she needs to settle back to sleep in her own sleep space.

🧩 Better sleep rarely comes from one single change.

It comes from putting the pieces of the sleep puzzle together, in the right place.

🎥 Watch the Reel to see why I would approach Maya's case this way.

🕵️ A new Baby Sleep Detective case is coming next week... are you ready to solve the next mystery?

🧠 Baby Sleep Quiz #2 – Answer Revealed!

The correct answer is... it depends. 😉

The best bedtime isn't one fixed hour for every baby. It depends on your baby's age and how the day has gone—especially naps and overall sleep.

One important distinction:
Bedtime isn't the moment your baby falls asleep. It's the moment you lovingly place them into their cot for the night—ideally awake and ready to drift off independently.

I know that aiming for a 6–7 p.m. bedtime can sometimes feel impossible, especially during these long summer evenings. When everyone else is outside enjoying the sunshine, heading home for bedtime can feel like you're missing out.

But here's what I've learned after helping hundreds of families: children naturally follow the calm, confident lead of their parents. Yes, they would happily keep playing—but that doesn't mean it's what their growing body and brain need most.

✨ In my experience, an earlier bedtime is almost always the best solution for more peaceful nights. When babies go to bed before they become overtired, they usually fall asleep more easily, sleep more soundly, and are less likely to wake frequently or start the day at 5 a.m.

Sometimes, the greatest gift we can give our children isn't extra playtime in the evening...but enough sleep at night. 💙

What time does your little one usually go to bed? I'd love to hear in the comments.

It still blows my mind to see where we were three weeks ago... and where we are now. 💚

This sentence from one of my clients stayed with me ever since I read this testimonial.

Before baby sleep coaching, Cara and her husband were raising two little girls: a 2.5-year-old and a 5-month-old, while surviving on just 3–4 hours of sleep a night.

Their daughters had different schedules, everyone was overtired, and life had become a cycle of exhaustion.

Then Cara wrote something I think so many parents silently feel:

*"I really didn't think there was a way out of it."*

Sleep deprivation has a way of convincing us that this is simply what parenthood looks like.

That one day, somehow, things will magically improve.

But they don't always have to stay that way.

Together, we created personalised sleep plans for both girls, adjusted to their personalities, routines and their family's parenting values. We made changes gradually, stayed consistent, worked through the inevitable regressions together, and celebrated every small victory along the way.

Just 3 weeks later...

✨ Both girls were asleep in their own beds by 7 pm.
✨ Their toddler was sleeping through the night.
✨ Their baby had learned to settle herself for naps and bedtime.
✨ And perhaps most importantly... the whole family had their evenings—and their energy—back.

Then came the sentence that made me smile:

"Now, I can't understand why we put up with sleep deprivation for such a long time."

That's exactly why I do what I do. Not just to help babies sleep.
But to help parents enjoy their lives again. To laugh more, connect more, and feel like themselves again.

Dear Cara, thank you for trusting me with such an important chapter in your family's life. Watching your transformation has been an absolute privilege. ❤️

💬 I'd love to hear from you: What has been the hardest part of sleep deprivation for your family? 👇
