Here is my 50th pair.
Seven years, three countries and four different workshops later, I finally made 50 pairs.
Ouf, quite a journey, and I couldn’t be happier about this pair.

These Chaparros, 7 inch, are built on the latest version of the 1546 last.
The toe shape is original but over the past months I improved the overall fit and profile.

I used the crispiest shell portion of the Cloe horsebutt for the vamps. This leather was hand dyed by me in dark brown with sapphire dye.

Unstructured toe box, solid brass hardware, raw top edge, woodsman heel, and rubber outsoles and half heels.

I just love the overall look of these boots. What do you think?

Vegetable Tanned
Not all leather is made equal.
The leathers in this workshop come from tanneries across Italy, all members of the Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana. A consortium founded in 1994 to protect traditional vegetable tanning.
Vegetable tanning uses natural tannins from bark and plants. The process takes months, not hours.
Chrome tanning uses heavy metal salts and toxic chemicals. It produces 80% of the world’s leather in 24 hours. The wastewater contaminates soil and water for decades.
Vegetable tanned leather breathes, moulds to your foot, develops patina and can be resoled and repaired for life.
Chrome tanned leather cannot. It ends in landfill.
