A new ikat weaving which was started in July at a Penland weaving class with Wendy R Weiss . I didn’t have time to finish it while there so the warp came home with me and was finished on my home loom.

I wanted to try my hand at wrapping the ikat design warps together, which were then separated and one of them was flipped both horizontally and vertically. This ended up presenting some weaving challenges on loom.

I also created letters in the same ikat method. Ikat always shifts once on the loom. You can control this to a certain degree, but my letters are shifting more than I would like.

Anyway, it’s all a learning process - looking forward to more!

Very inspiring lecture by Melanie Falick yesterday at Vogue Knitting Live. - “If These Stitches Could Talk”
Melanie championed the power of storytelling about our craft. She encouraged us to keep a record about what we are creating, how we are feeling as we create, what is going on in the world around us as we create.

She told stories, and read a couple of stories I had written. The audience was then encouraged to think about and share their stories.

Here’s to more stories, more record keeping and for Melanie to continue to inspire us in elevating our craft through stories.
