I'm VERY excited to show off this new bag! It’s a versatile slouchy sling-style that can be worn as a shoulder bag or a backpack. It is deceptively roomy, fully lined, and features a secure internal zip pocket. Hold onto your hats, I'm definitely making more of these!

This year, I chose to stop buying new fabric and instead use what I have. I'm enjoying the challenge; it forces me to truly look at my stash, sparking new levels of improvisation and creativity.

​One result is this messenger bag, which explores the beauty of juxtaposition by blending modern canvas with traditional artistry. I combined cotton canvas for the bag body with Bedouin handmade cross-stitch embroidery details and a hand-woven colourful flap, creating an interesting contrast between new and old materials. To complete the bag, I added an appliqué Bedouin desert scene—a palm tree, tent, and camel—which brings a playful, cultural story to the piece, and what a great unique souvenir of South Sinai.

It’s amazing how one bag can steal a heart! Kathryn from Lincolnshire, UK, recently commissioned this patchwork messenger bag to carry her work laptop and daily essentials. She requested a blue, green, and aqua theme with a subtle splash of gold—and she just let me know that it arrived and is even better than the photos!

​This is just one of many stories I’ve gathered over the years. Each of these bags is crafted from rescued upholstery remnants and authentic, second-hand Bedouin Galabeya dresses; these pieces are all about giving beautiful materials a second life.

I do like to set myself goals; they get me through the day, the week, and the year. That's how I roll, how I survive. One thing that I've been steadily loyal to this year is using what I have and reducing my fabric stash. I'm quite dedicated to the cause!

​I've had some IKEA cushion covers in my cupboard for years. The fabric is super high-quality printed canvas, so I finally decided to use them. Here's the first piece: a cosmetic pouch. It's turned out so nice! Its structure is strong and sturdy, thanks to the quality of the fabric.
