“Respect your elders” Nope. I respect human beings based on how they treat me, not simply because they’re older than me.👎🏻😊
When I meet someone, I offer respect automatically regardless of age, because that’s what kind people do. But as I get to know someone better, I adjust accordingly.☺️
If you become disrespectful toward me, I’m not going to disrespect you back—I’m just going to adjust your access to me. 🤷🏻♀️
Honestly, the phrase “respect your elders” has been twisted for decades to excuse toxic behavior from people who believe age places them above everything.
Respect has nothing to do with age—and I’m teaching my child that they deserve respect from everyone as long as they’re being kind and fair to others.
Someone being older doesn’t give them a pass to say or do whatever they want while still expecting blind-respect in return. 🙌🏻🙂↕️
