The Best of Mothers? 🩷
Motherhood stirs many emotions in me. My relationship with my own mother
and with my daughter is close and full of care, even though we are very
different in our personalities. It is precisely those differences that
enrich our relationships and teach us to understand each other more
deeply.
Our family is full of strong, natural leaders, so everyday life is not
always predictable — and it doesn’t need to be. Life is meant to be
seen and felt. Balancing the emotions and sudden ideas of one’s own
child can sometimes feel like a demanding journey, yet it is also
incredibly rewarding and full of lessons. What matters most is simply
doing your best and remembering that presence and love are far more
important than perfection. 🌸
From airplane safety instructions I’ve learned an important principle:
put on your own oxygen mask first, and only then help others. When you
take care of your own wellbeing, you can truly be present for those
around you. Motherhood should not mean forgetting your own needs — nor
should it. By caring for ourselves, we show our children that their own
boundaries and needs are valuable.
So let us embrace motherhood as courageously human and beautifully
imperfect. In doing so, we give our children the most important gift of
all: the example of an independent person who respects themselves.
Happy Mother’s Day to all,
Minna Parikka 💕
