Eight years ago I started French Consul because I wanted more Frenchiness in my life — and it turns out, so did a lot of you! But here’s the thing about a life well lived — it keeps evolving. And mine is evolving in a direction I’m genuinely excited about.

So I’ve made a decision. French Consul linen is having its final sale — and I wanted you to be first to know and the first to shop. 75% off everything. One week only! Every grain sack stripe linen piece, every item — going to people who will love them, at a price that feels like a proper thank you for the first eight years of French Consul!

And French Consul? It’s not going anywhere. You’ve always loved my renovation stories – from Tassie to our Sydney home – and my love affair with France and all things beautiful. All of that remains unchanged! I’ll be right here.

Thank you so much for being part of my world. I cannot wait to share what’s next!

Throwing it back to one of my proudest moments of this Sydney exterior renovation so far 👊🏻✨

Back in March we stone clad the bay window on our 1960s Sydney home and honestly? I still can’t stop staring at it.

What was flat, plain brick is now this beautiful textured French country stone — and it completely changed the character of the entire facade.

We’re deep in the exterior transformation right now — the new patio floor is being poured as we speak and antique French oak doors are waiting in the wings — so it felt like the perfect moment to look back at where this all began.

The full exterior reveal is coming along and I cannot WAIT to show you the finished look (when we get there!) 😅🤍🇫🇷

What do you think — does it have French Provincial written all over it?

We thought we were stripping old paint off the walls at Petit Chateau, our heritage cottage in Tasmania. What we found instead was the original sandstone — laid by convict hands nearly 200 years ago, hidden under decades of plaster and paint. Moments like this are why I love my work 🤍 Petit Château

Thinking about a patio? Do it. After weeks of digging, measuring, levelling and preparation, it was finally concrete day! There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing months of planning turn into something real. We’re only half way (and there will be a tinted microcement ‘top coat’) but not bad for 3 people and a hand mixed and poured concrete patio - definitely learned some skills today! Sound on for the full experience!! 👷🏻‍♀️🚧🪏

Dreaming of restoring a heritage property one day? People often ask me how we actually did it. How we went from dreaming about rescuing a heritage property to actually holding the keys—and then bringing it back to life without losing our minds in the process. I realised that so much of what we learned isn’t written down in standard renovation manuals. It’s about the patience, the unexpected discoveries, and the grit it takes to hold onto a piece of history. I put our entire journey—the honest, unfiltered highs and lows—into my book, Holding History. If you’ve ever looked at an old, forgotten building and felt that unmistakable pull to restore it, this is for you. You can check it out at www.frenchconsul.co ♥️🏡

This was my dream country kitchen build - I loved every part of designing it and the extension it sits within at the back of our heritage stone cottage in Tasmania. Here’s a little peek into the process plus the before and after 🥰

Renovating challenges! Swipe left! 😱 The people who built the patio that we’re currently renovating honestly did such a dodgy job! I’m thinking they’re the same people who built the bathroom we replaced last year!! See our latest discovery by swiping left for the video. All these kind of issues add time and money to any reno, and really test your patience. Stu is fixing it today so that we can continue the prep before the concrete pour
