There is a distinct feeling of becoming emotionally invisible when you enter a foreign maternity system.

You mostly feel like just another number on a protocol sheet.

You walk out of prenatal appointments physically checked, but wondering if you were actually seen and your feelings acknowledged.

You do not have to navigate this transition alone.
You deserve more than just a medical briefing.
You deserve to be seen and deeply held.

Through my Bespoke Birth Preparation Experience, which includes the integration of my continuous Virtual Doula support from the moment you book and until 2 weeks postpartum, I am offering a soft place to land, combined with the grounded, evidence-based expertise to navigate your birth with absolute confidence.

We don’t just cover anatomy. We decode French protocols and build your personalised birth roadmap.

It is the grounded anchor you need to move from feeling unseen to feeling confident, empowered, and deeply held.

Are you due in May or June 2026?
The window to deeply prepare your container is closing. My calendar is nearly full, and I have exactly 2 spots left for this bespoke level of prenatal accompaniment.

👸🏻 Happy International Women’s Day weekend, Queens!

I’ve spent this past week connecting with some incredibly talented mum-preneurs here in France, and it got me thinking about what “women supporting women” actually looks like behind the scenes of a business.

Spoiler alert: It has absolutely nothing to do with follower counts. 📉

In the loud world of social media, it’s so easy to get stuck in the passive “Follower” mindset.

You know the vibe, endless scrolling, clicking follow, double-tapping, or sending a quick “hey girl” DM that treats a woman’s life’s work like a weekend hobby.

And hey, no shade to hobbies! But when you are dealing with life-changing perinatal care, professional maturity is paramount.

This week, I was reminded of the absolute magic of the “Collaborator” mindset. ✨

Real networking is delightfully quiet. It’s seeing a fellow business owner’s post, discreetly clicking the link in their bio, reading their website, checking their reviews, and thinking: “Wow, she is brilliant at what she does. My clients need her.”

Real networking is skipping the “follower mindset” casual DMs and sending a properly crafted, professional email that says: “I respect your craft. Here is how we can support each other’s clients.” 🤝

When we filter out the hobby-sized follower mindset and step into professional maturity, we stop looking for superficial metrics and start building actual empires.

To the incredible women I’ve connected with this week (you know exactly who you are 🥂), thank you for operating at such a high level.

And to every female entrepreneur out there building her business empire in a different country, navigating a second language, and doing the deep work:

Happy International Women’s Day! 💐
Keep sending the emails. 👩🏻‍💻
Keep raising the bar. 🙌
Keep helping each other win. 🏆

Birthing in a foreign country adds a massive layer of “mental load” that standard birth classes completely miss. 🇬🇧 🇫🇷

It’s not just about learning the stages of labour. It’s about understanding the specific protocols at your local Maternité, knowing exactly which questions to ask your Gynéco, and advocating for your choices when you are navigating a medical system in your second language.

My newly enhanced Private Birth Preparation is designed specifically for the international community here in Paris. It’s not just about the physiology of birth... it’s about the reality of birthing here.

By combining personalised birth education with the continuous, “in-your-pocket” support of a Virtual Doula, I help you cut through the noise and the translation barriers.

This is a one-of-a-kind program in Paris, and I only take a limited number of families each month so I can be truly available to you.

Ready to feel anchored, empowered, and deeply held?

Ever walked out of a prenatal appointment feeling rushed and emotionally invisible? 🥹

The maternity system moves fast. When an appointment is just 10 minutes of checking blood pressure and a heartbeat before rushing you out the door, the emotional side of your pregnancy gets left behind.

When you’re “spiralling” after a quick check-up, you don’t need another frantic midnight Google search.

You need someone in your corner to help you process it.

Imagine having a Doula’s virtual hug and a Birth Educator’s practical experience right in your pocket.📱

The ZEN Birth Private Birth Preparation now includes continuous virtual Doula support.

Because your feelings are valid, and you are more than just a patient number.

This is the practical and emotional “on-call” guidance that bridges the gap between those clinical visits.

It’s the missing piece for parents who want deep, personalised birth prep, but don’t necessarily need a full birth-room Doula.

Let’s be honest: The French maternity system is world-class. 🇫🇷

If you have a medical emergency during your pregnancy, you are in the safest hands possible. Because of this, there is a pervasive narrative making rounds in the expat community: “Don’t worry, the midwives are great, the hospital is free, you’ll be fine.”

This is what I call the “Good Enough” Illusion.

It’s the belief that, because you are medically safe, you are fully supported. It’s the idea that because your vitals are being tracked, your transition into motherhood is being tended to.

But for the expat mother, navigating birth away from her village, ‘fine’ is a potentially dangerous standard.

Standard care is designed for clinical efficiency. It has a ceiling. It can measure your belly, but it cannot check in with your soul. It gives you a pamphlet, but it isn’t there at 9pm, when the anxiety spirals.

You deserve to be Safe, no doubt about that. But, you also deserve to be Held.

I’ve written a manifesto for the woman who refuses to settle for the baseline.

Read my new blog post, “The Good Enough” Illusion, to understand the crucial difference between clinical safety and true, fierce support.

🤰🇫🇷 Giving birth in France? You deserve to be both Safe and Deeply Held.

Hi! I’m Joanna, a Doula in Paris.

As an expat mum of 3, I know the French system is world-class at keeping you medically safe. But I also know that sometimes, “medically safe” can still feel emotionally invisible.

You deserve more than a medical briefing. You deserve a soft place to land combined with grounded expertise, to navigate this system with absolute confidence.

I created The ZEN Bespoke Birth Preparation Experience to bridge the gap for parents who want more than “just a class”, but aren’t looking for full-time, in-person Doula.

It is the “Unicorn” middle ground: 🦄

✨ The Grounded Foundation: 1:1 Private Birth Preparation in the comfort of your home. We focus on evidence-based tools and the practical “how-to” of the French system.

✨ The Emotional Anchor: “Joanna in your pocket” via phone, text or email from the moment you book until 2 weeks postpartum (including 24/7 virtual support during labour).

This is a one-of-a-kind program in Paris, and I only take a limited number of families each month so I can be truly available to you.

Ready to feel anchored, empowered, and deeply held?

Comment or DM me the word Unicorn 🦄 and I’ll send you the details.

I know it’s Friday night, but for some of you, the 9pm “spiral” is just starting. 😵‍💫

You’re medically safe, but you don’t feel Held.

You’ve been told the maternity care in France is “great” and you should be grateful...

But, in the quiet of the night, you actually know that being physically checked isn’t the same as being emotionally tended to.

I’ve just finished a manifesto on why “Good Enough” Maternity Care is an illusion.
