Coming Very Soon – The "𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧"

An exclusive limited edition from Oorlich Designs, with only five individually numbered pieces to be produced.

The Bannockburn features a beautifully hand-crafted brass cantle, adorned with three finials, a central Rampant Lion, and four Fleur-de-lis. Internally, the sporran is lined with striking yellow suede and incorporates several unique finishing touches inspired by the legacy of Robert the Bruce, all handcrafted by the artisans at Margaret Morrison Ltd of Perth.

The exterior is crafted from premium leather, hand-dyed and hand-finished in an aged Antique Chestnut finish, and complemented by a brass-studded targe and three acorn tassels. On the reverse, the famous statue at Bannockburn is engraved alongside Bruce’s heraldic shield, creating a fitting tribute to one of Scotland’s greatest kings.

Two of the images shown have been digitally generated to assist with the visual presentation of this forthcoming design and may differ slightly from the final handcrafted product.

A beautiful Highland Cow sporran, slightly different from the usual. The striking black Highland Cow twin tassels stand out beautifully against the rich ginger hair, creating a distinctive and eye-catching piece.

Two of these sporrans were recently commissioned by one of our veterans: one to mark and honour his service, and the other as a gift for a lifelong friend. A fitting tribute, crafted in the spirit of friendship, loyalty, and shared memories. Very fitting for the 20th Anniversary of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

We received an enquiry last week regarding a Prince Philip-style sporran, with the customer advising, “I will be in Edinburgh from the 28th–30th of May — is this doable?”

Following a phone call to discuss the details, I was pleased to confirm: “Yes, we can do that.”

Not every sporran can be supplied at such short notice, as some designs require more intricate craftsmanship and longer production times. However, if you have a specific sporran in mind and are working to a deadline, please get in touch.

From my own personal collection, purchased from our good friends at House of Labhran in November 2024.

An exceptional antique Scottish dress sporran dating from circa 1880–1890, featuring a beautifully engraved nickel silver cantle with traditional five-knob mount, under-set with a black leather slip.

This striking Victorian-style dress sporran has been faithfully restored by Margaret Morrison of Perth with a new Ox blood goat hair body, complete with three chain-strung tassels in matching goat hair, each topped with vintage cone mounts. To the rear is a military-style back pouch purse crafted in richly tooled oxblood leather.
The goat hair is now beginning to take on its own aged patina, making this a beautiful Victorian Sporran.

A true classic of Highland dress, this elegant form of sporran became widely admired through the celebrated works of Kenneth MacLeay, particularly his 1860s commission for Queen Victoria, The Highlanders of Scotland — a remarkable visual record of Highland life and dress during the Victorian era.
