Hem House has moved!

From 14th July, you'll now find Hemhouse at:

24 Argyll Street
Lochgilphead
PA30 5NE

Next door to Murray's Fishmongers.

During July, the shop will be open for COLLECTIONS only (unless pre agreed).
No new work will be taken on until August while I get everything set up in the new premises.

Any work I currently have in will continue as normal, and I'll contact you by text or phone when it's ready to collect.

I will be on holiday from **20th July to 27th July** so the shop will be closed during this time.

Thank you for your patience and continued support. We got there in the end, I look forward to seeing you all in the new space!

I just want to thank everyone who shared, posted and messaged me about the shop issue last week. The support of locals was mind blowing! So many people reached out to help!

I can happily share that I now have a space! From the end of July Hem House will be moving into 24 Argyll Street as a temporary space until my new premises opens.

I will be posting updates on here about the move, until then, enjoy the sunshine folks! 💛

EDIT - HEMHOUSE SAVED! SPACE NOW FOUND!!
🎉 BIG NEWS! We bought a new shop!
But...

Back in March, we purchased a shop right on Lochgilphead High Street (old Lochside Leisure shop).
We had hoped to make a huge surprise announcement once everything was ready, however things have taken a rather different turn.

Due to ongoing building issues outside of my control, Hem House may not be able to move into the new premises as planned at the end of July until these issues are resolved.

Rather than risk interrupting service to our customers, I'm trying to put a backup plan in place.

So, I'm asking our wonderful community for help. I'm looking for a temporary space which could be used for:

• Sewing and alterations
• Customer fittings
• Bridal appointments
• Garment storage
• A sewing machine and pressing station

Ideally the space would be:

• Clean and dry
• Available from the end of July
• Located in or around Lochgilphead / Ardrishaig
• Suitable for appointment-based use

It doesn't need to be a full shop. A spare room within an existing business, office space, community facility or similar could work perfectly.

The new Hem House premises is still very much the long-term plan and I'm hopeful we'll get there. In the meantime, I want to make sure I can continue looking after my customers without interruption.

A wee bit of exciting news for Hem House!

This morning I received an invitation to a Royal Garden Party at Palace of Holyroodhouse.

I was nominated as a female business owner in Argyll following the opening of Hem House, which is something I never expected when I started out with a sewing machine, a pile of alterations and a hope that people would actually book in!

As a small business owner, there are days when you're convinced you're making it up as you go along, so receiving an invitation like this feels very surreal.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their wedding dresses, favourite outfits, repairs and alterations over the last couple of years. Hem House wouldn't exist without your support.

Now the important question... what does a seamstress wear to a Royal Garden Party?

📣 Announcement (TW - Pregnancy Loss)

Hi Everyone,
On 29th April 2026 my pregancy ended in a miscarriage. As this is my 2nd in the space of a year, I will be taking the some time off to process this loss. I am not closing, only reducing my work load for a while.

I will be in touch with those who have bookings this week. Those with bookings after 11th May will not be affected and I will aim to complete existing work as soon as I can. I will keep my diary open for June onwards.

I want to thank the support I've had and for everyone's understanding. This wasn't easy to share, I thought it was important to clarify as I was intending to reopen my diary at this point and I know some people have been waiting to hear back from me about booking in.

I have some big things for this year which I will be focusing on which will allow me to do more with HemHouse.

Watch this space, I will be back bigger and better.

Busy Season at Hem House

Thank you so much for all the continued support, it’s been an incredibly busy start to the year!

Due to a very full workload over the next few months, my booking slots are now completely full and I’ve temporarily closed new bookings while I work through the current queue.

If you already have an appointment booked, everything will go ahead as planned and I’ll be in touch when your item is ready.

I’ll post an update as soon as new booking slots reopen. Thank you again for keeping Hem House so busy, I really appreciate it.
