150 new people… welcome! ❤️

Firstly… wow! Over 150 of you have joined us in the last couple of weeks, so I thought it was about time we introduced ourselves.

Around here, you’re all unofficial business partners, so don’t be surprised if we ask your opinion on everything! 😂

💙 Ruby (or RJ, or Ruby Jae… depending who you ask!) is our youngest team member. She’s an incredibly talented aspiring ballerina and joins us once a month. Keep an eye out because she’ll be filming plenty of fun dance videos with Harriet.

💙 Harriet (or Hattie!) is our Saturday superstar and part of our Twirl Prom Style Crew. She goes to what we affectionately call The Fame School, so between her and Ruby there’s never a shortage of singing, dancing… or trying on enormous princess dresses! If you visit on a Saturday, don’t be surprised if Harriet greets you wearing the biggest wedding dress in the shop. 😂

💙 Barb, otherwise known as Care in the Community, is my mum. If you’re offered a cuppa, she’s probably made it. She’ll also happily tell you she’s glad she doesn’t get paid because she’d have to do some work then! 🤣

💙 And then there’s me… I’m Jo.

I’ve been self-employed for 17 years, but House of Vows, Twirl Prom Boutique and The Hub haven’t even celebrated their first birthday yet.

I started House of Vows because I believe every bride deserves the wedding she’s dreamed of, not just the wedding she can afford.

✨ Showroom Update! ✨

They’ve arrived… and they were absolutely worth the wait! 🤍

Our first two new plus size wedding dresses (both are a size 20/22) are now in the showroom, with another two (possibly three!) arriving later this week.

The first is a true princess gown. A beautiful one shoulder design with delicate floral detailing across the shoulder, a flattering pleated bodice and a breathtaking full ball gown skirt covered in lace appliqué. If you’ve been dreaming of that fairytale moment, this could be the one. These styles are incredibly difficult to find, especially in plus sizes, so we’re always excited when one becomes available.

The second is something so many of our brides ask us for. A timeless full lace fit and flare gown with elegant cap sleeves, a soft train and a beautifully embellished detachable waistband belt that draws you in at the natural waist. It’s classic, flattering and absolutely stunning.

Both gowns are boutique ex-samples, which means they’ve never been worn for a wedding. The ball gown has clearly been a very popular sample in its previous boutique, while the lace gown looks as though it’s barely been tried on at all.

The best part? We’ve got even more arriving this week, so keep an eye on our page because I’ll show you those as soon as they land.

If you’ve ever been into House of Vows, whether you bought a wedding dress, a prom dress, came to an appointment, popped in for a browse or even just came to have a nosey around, would you mind leaving us a Google review?

I don’t think people always realise just how important they are.

At the minute we’re really struggling to be found on Google. You can search for wedding dress shops in Nottingham and we’re miles down the list. Sometimes even if you put our name or address in, we’re not where we should be.

Google seems to work on interaction. The more reviews, clicks and activity we get, the more it realises we’re still here and the more people it shows us to.

It’s a bit of a vicious circle really. If people can’t find us, they can’t visit us. If they can’t visit us, they can’t leave reviews. And if they can’t leave reviews, Google pushes us even further down.

We’re trying so hard to build this little business. We genuinely care about every single bride and every prom girl who walks through our door, and we know once people find us, they usually leave saying, “I wish I’d known about you sooner.”

So if we’ve ever helped you in any way, and you’ve got a couple of minutes to spare, we’d honestly be so grateful if you could leave us a review. It really does make more difference than you probably realise.

💙 We need your help… I KNOW AGAIN

Prom 2027 is only a month away from starting here at Twirl, and this year we’d love to gift one amazing girl her dream prom dress.

The problem is… we don’t want to do the same old “like, share, tag three friends” competition. They’re a bit boring now, aren’t they? 🤭

Twirl has always been about making every girl feel welcome. We know that buying a prom dress is a big moment, and for many families it’s also a big expense. We believe every girl deserves to feel amazing on prom night, whatever her circumstances.

So we’re asking you…

How should we choose the winner?

Should girls nominate themselves?
