After serious consideration, Glen Ogal has made the difficult decision not to move forward with further investment plans in Blairgowrie.
We had hoped to purchase the former Factory Shop and turn it into a modern department store, creating around 25 jobs and bringing something new to the town centre.
Sadly, ongoing issues including shoplifting, property damage, online abuse, threats, repeated fly tipping and the poor condition of many town centre buildings have made it impossible for us to invest with confidence.
This is not a reflection on our loyal customers, who have been fantastic. It is about the wider trading environment and the challenges facing businesses trying to invest in the town.
Blairgowrie has potential, but investment needs confidence, safety and support. Right now, those conditions are not there.
