After recently spotting some puffins on a trip away, I thought I'd share a few fascinating facts about these much-loved seabirds!

Did you know?
🐧 Puffins spend most of their lives at sea, only coming to land during the breeding season.
🐧 Their colourful beaks aren't always so bright! During winter, the outer layers of the beak are shed, leaving a much duller appearance until spring returns.
🐧 Puffins are incredible swimmers, using their wings to "fly" underwater as they chase fish.
🐧 They can carry multiple fish in their beaks at once thanks to a clever spiny tongue and specialised mouth structure. Some puffins have been recorded carrying more than 10 fish in a single trip!
🐧 In the UK, puffins can be found around coastal areas including the Farne Islands, Northumberland, Skomer Island in Wales, and parts of Scotland.
🐧 Although they may look comical, puffins face challenges from climate change, food shortages and habitat pressures, making conservation efforts increasingly important.

It's easy to see why they're one of Britain's favourite seabirds. With their colourful beaks, waddling walk and impressive fishing skills, they're a real treat to spot in the wild 🧡

Last weekend, I escaped for a much-needed long weekend with a good friend, heading up to the beautiful Hadrian's Wall for a few days of walking, exploring and catching up.

We were lucky enough to spot some amazing wildlife, including puffins, take in some stunning scenery, and rack up plenty of steps along the way! 🚶‍♀️🐧⛰️

Of course, all that walking meant there was only one choice when it came to what to wear...
