Helping men in need today, but in memory of loved ones no longer with us.

The cars, the community and the camaraderie between our "Wild Boars" is what sets us apart. It isn't about how fat your wallet is or how long your sc***ng is, as nobody cares.

Amigos with no ego's is where we are at. A friendly bunch of people with a passion for cars, who like to chew the fat (sometimes bacon) and swill it down with a brew.

A case in point recently, when we were visited over yonder by a stealthy looking Porsche 997, as it winged its way into the car park. The inside was equally as impressive with a full tartan themed interior by .

Mick the pilot emerges from the cockpit and was immediately one of us, joining in with the banter and showing us around his wheels. We were honoured to understand that he had travelled 3.5 hours from Gloucester to come to our humble gathering.

Having got to know Mick only recently our hearts and thoughts go out to him and his family as we hear of the loss of his Father Tony Baird at the ripe age of 91.

Like Mick, there are a few of us who are quite fragile at the moment due to the recent loss of a loved one. We find a certain amount of solace by getting behind the wheel, or in front of a fellow petrolhead to help us navigate the road ahead at our regular Cars & Coffee gatherings .

Or better still join our charity drive with .refuel on the 29th August and raise money for the healthy mind, body and soul of people with the car community.

On the 29th August we are winging it with .refuel around the Peak District, raising money to support people within the car community. In memory of lost loved ones who fuelled our passion for all things petrol powered.

Whether it’s a pound a mile, the cost of a tank of fuel or leftover change found in the glove box under the travel sweets, it all makes a difference and helps to drive real change.

On a personal note, I will be raising money in memory of my Father whose road came to an end in February this year. I did a double take recently at a PWF gathering and a visit of a "Grand Prix" white Porsche 924S.

It reminded me of Dad's example and his enthusiastic driving over the "Snake Pass" in the mid 80's to see family across the Pennines. With the sun roof open, mullet flowing, shades reflecting and Phil Collins blaring (on tape via the Blaupunkt).
