Restoring pieces that have been painted back to ‘stock’ is a true labour of love. Considering the time consuming work, involving scraping/sanding/scrubbing/stripping, you never start one of these projects for the £££. It’s for the sheer joy of restoring a 50+ year old classic back to as it should be.

In this case, a 1960s Danish desk, has been painted and the paint is deep into the grain. It’s going to take a while…😬 but it will be worth it.

Mid Century furniture restoration, sales and salvage

A cracking, truly classy sideboard by Sibast Mobler of Denmark. Made to last with the highest quality finish, this is a rare thing that would would look good in a mid-century setting or a cutting-edge contemporary home. Two cupboards with adjustable shelves sit either side of a central, extending drinks stand. I simply love the way it’s made, how sturdy it is, the choice of hardware and clever design. Everything works!

Made of, I suspect, Rosewood which has faded evenly across the piece externally giving it a lovely mid-brown hue. Handle recesses are made of brushed steel.
