Two new classes starting in September at Merryoaks Community Hall - Absolute Beginner Ukulele Group and The MerryFolk Band.

Both are run by local musician, music teacher and performer Ian McKone, well-known for shanty clubs etc.

All the details you need about the classes and how to contact Ian are on the posters. We look forward to welcoming you to these musical events.

Only two weeks until our new Playgroup starts at Merryoaks Community Hall (details on poster) and we are busy getting in all the things we need. Our playgroup leader has asked us to find some wooden cable reels - height roughly 48cm, or smaller plastic ones, plus pipes and crates. Please see the photos and let me know if you can help. Many thanks

Please don’t bring stuff without checking first, we need to know that we can use it and don’t get too much!

This Saturday, 5th September it’s the monthly coffee morning at Merryoaks Community Hall, at 11am.

Come along and see what the new term is bringing to the Hall, old favourites and new classes. Watch out for our posts telling you all about them.

Also at the Hall on Saturday will be Vanny the ecovan from Ecologico so you can buy packaging free cupboard essentials in the quantity you want, (bring your own boxes and jars) and the PATmen will be testing your small electricals for safety and minor repairs.

We love to see you so don’t forget.

💙 Supporting the health and wellbeing of our community

The City of Durham Parish Council is delighted to have supported the recent prostate cancer screening day at Merryoaks Community Hall by providing funding for this important event.

Organised by the fantastic Durham District Prostate Cancer Group, the day provided local men with the opportunity to access screening, ask questions and find out more about prostate cancer in a friendly and welcoming community setting.

Early awareness, access to information and the opportunity to get checked can be incredibly important, and events like this help bring those opportunities directly into our communities.

The health and wellbeing of our residents will always be a top priority. We believe that supporting local organisations and community-led projects is an important part of creating a healthier, stronger and more connected parish.

A huge thank you to Les and everyone at Durham District Prostate Cancer Group for the vital work you continue to do supporting men and their families across County Durham.
