I design and make patterns for doll outfits. I particularly enjoy making historically correct period outfits for girl and boy dolls. I also take my dolls on my travels and take a lot of photos. I have just finished a very special project: knitting a Harry Styles cardigan for my mini Snoopy. For those of you who don't know, 6 months ago I lost my 16-year-old daughter to Ewing sarcoma (a very agressive and fundamentally incurable type of bone cancer). My daughter loved Snoopy, she had a Build-a-Bear Snoopy and they were inseparable. After she passed away last November, I bought a mini Snoopy and I now take him on my travels. He has a little necklace with my daughter's photo. My daughter also loved Harry Styles and Taylor Swift, and she asked me to make their cardigans for her Build-a-Bear Snoopy. I didn't manage to finish them in time (but I will, eventually, in her memory). For now, I have made a smaller version of the Harry Styles cardigan (the original is on display in Victoria & Albert Museum in London, see last photo). My daughter also had her own version of this cardigan which she loved wearing. So, this little Snoopy in this little cardigan is something really special for me.

My daughter was very passionate about spreading awareness of sarcoma and spent the last year of her life advocating for more research for effective cure. Her cancer account (now managed by me) is . I started my November knitting challenge in October. This my progress so far. It is slow going given the scale and the amount of yarn balls in various colours. If you are into pop culture, you will recognize the design. It's the famous Harry Styles' cardigan (now on display in V&A Museum). I have scaled it down as I am knitting it for my daughter's Build-a-Bear teddy. Something she's been asking me for a couple of years but as I didn't feel like knitting in the past 4 years, I kept postponing it. I am glad this fundraising challenge for the Bone Cancer Research Trust has given me the incentive to do it.

I have joined a fundraising challenge in the hope of raising some money for the sarcoma research and to raise awareness of this horrible cancer. It is organised by the Bone Cancer Research Trust, a UK charity.

 
As some of you know, my family is directly affected by bone cancer - Ewing sarcoma. Even worse, it has affected my beautiful 16yo daughter. And there is no known treatment that can save her life. That is why I want to do anything I can to help find cure for sarcoma, even if it will be too late for my daughter.

I haven't knitted for 4 years, ever since I got fully involved with making and restoring vestments, so it will be fun to get knitting again. The challenge set by the charity is to knit 30 minutes every day during November. My daughter and I have decided to make some sweaters / cardigans for dolls and Build-a-Bears. I might sell some of these creations with all proceeds going to the same charity.

This is a miniature 18th century suit from the V&A collection. It dates from 1760-1765 and was probably made by a tailor to advertise his skills. It is cut and constructed in exactly the same way as a full-sized adult suit but it's half-size. It is a perfect doll size, slightly bigger than AG I guess.

I am staying in London at the moment and had a visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum today. I'll show some of the spectacular dolls and historical dresses from their collection in the next few posts. Here is an 18th century doll (dated from 1755-1760). She is relatively small, I guess, about the size of an A Girl for All Time doll or a bit smaller. Her dress is exquisite!
