We love sharing the stories behind our customers handfasting’s, read on as our lovely customer Kim shares their story!

“My husband and I have been married for 15 years; at the time of our wedding we had very little money and we felt obliged to please our parents. I was also pregnant with our son on our wedding day. We always promised ourselves we would renew our vows some day, and have a celebration to reflect who we are now, to do things our way and this was our year. So on the date of our anniversary, we decided to reaffirm our commitment to each other by becoming a hand fasted husband and wife.

Our celebration was small and intimate, with our children and a few close friends, and we were blessed to have found the perfect woodland venue to solidify that commitment to each other amongst nature. Ellie performed our handfasting and it was truly magical; having had a traditional wedding before, I can say that the ritual of handfasting is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most beautiful way to commit to your partner. This is one of our most popular cords. Each partner chooses a colour with personal meaning. The two colours meet in the centre, symbolising two separate lives, stories, and families becoming one, while each person keeps their own identity.

A few faves from L & Js intimate elopement at the Ropes Mansion in Salem Massachusetts last summer. These two met online and decided to get married on their 10 year dating anniversary. We met at the mansion on a beautiful summer day and practically had the whole place to ourselves. They decided on doing a ring exchange and hand fasting ceremony. What a perfectly magical day for their first time here in Salem
