Antique Mackay Elgin Scottish Wall Thermometer – Oak Case – c. 1890–1915

Magnificent and truly beautiful antique wall-mounted thermometer marked “MACKAY ELGIN”, housed in its original solid oak case with decorative cast metal mounts.

This handsome Victorian/Edwardian scientific instrument features dual Celsius and Fahrenheit scales with a spirit-filled glass thermometer tube and retains its original porcelain-style scale and decorative center pointer. The warm oak case and quality craftsmanship make it equally suitable as a functional instrument or decorative piece.

Scottish scientific instruments from provincial makers are increasingly sought after, and examples bearing the Mackay, Elgin name are rare and seldom encountered.
