I had a fabulous day as part of the team behind the ROYAL BALLET AND OPERA COSTUME AND ARMOURY SALE. Preparing all the rails of costume - around 25,000 costume and items. What a great Team of people all working seamlessly together to bring the huge event to fruition. Meet some lovely costumes this afternoon at the first part of the sale too. Dungarees! Loved making these. Taking the time to sew and make from scratch (instead of altering garments) is so so satisfying. I love my skills, I love the ability to take a length of fabric and turn it into a garment to wear. This is a bespoke garment for a very special young lady. Happy Birthday Amy!

WHOOP WHOOP! I got the results for my final assignment for my first year at University and I’m so so happy! I got the highest mark A+ for my remake of The Baker costume and a A- for my File - it’s so great to end on a high note and I’ve learnt so so much over the year. Really looking forward to the 2nd Year, we’ll be making Tutu’s !

University course work - underpinnings Corset...

The Corset...made from scratch!! Measured a colleague, produced a bodice pattern block, fitted and altered, fitted again and drew the corset shape, made a corset pattern block, cut out 2 types of fabric, cortile and this poly satin, boning channels on the inside, hand punched eyelets and hand stitched binding on the inside....at lot of work and incredibly pleased with it! Unit 4 done.

Getting creative again

Keeping busy...🧵👚👘✂️. Catching up with sewing jobs that have had to take a back seat since I started my University course. Copied a dress and a top and remade with a beautiful floral green stretch jersey and a pretty pink gingham summer top. A beautiful Kimono jacket in a printed chiffon complete with French seams. It’s been so nice to sew for fun and make something from scratch rather than altering someone else’s garments. 🥰🥰
