Just had a wonderful live Zoom session on Patreon where we used this weeks pics of Carreg Cennen Castle. I created these two pieces simultaneously during a 50 minute timed study. I started off with 10 warm up (scroll to see ) before moving into the larger images of the castle using watercolour, gelatos and watercolours. This session was recorded so patrons can enjoy the replay if they couldn’t catch it live

Inspired by my 1 on 1 personal painting session with Mariana I used some of her sunset images to create these postcards as gifts for my workshop attendees tomorrow. I always thought of sunsets as super challenging and would overwork them. But I think the trick is to use considered broad strokes and let the pigments mix on the paper. My playtime today - Happy Friday everyone 🌅

I couldn’t resist using this cute mini palette to create this weeks (set brought off Etsy - shop is called Just Add Water) I’ve been having a tough few days and after some meditation I decided painting was a good cleanser for my soul. I feel a little brighter now 🙏

⭐️I had the pleasure of sketching live at the Dances from Myanmar performance co-curated by and Zarnekoko from and the Community
Partnerships team at the .
✏️I was able to make the quickest of gestural marks whilst watching the dancers then work from my photo references to finish in my sketchbook with watercolour and colour pencil .
🙏It was incredible to witness the dancers , @/winmclay, Nay, the Karen Community Association UK and Shan Cultural Association perform such beautiful and unique dances.

I’ve been meaning to reconnect with for ages now. The inspiration pics for Arashiysma are from last year, but the location itself has been lingering on my bucket list of places to visit for decades. I’m considering painting the locations on my bucket list as a meaningful goal to strive for. Might paint Peru next .

🙏Many thanks for the kind wishes from my birthday weekend. I was given some beautiful flowers by friends and family which I’m sharing with you here.

It’s always so much fun to create Live with Patreon. Exploring theinterplay of ‘hard & soft textures’ in the paint-along session was a delightful challenge. With the same ferns reference, we had on two (slightly tense at times for me) 45-minute timed studies, experimenting with a diverse range of mediums. From acrylic markers to inks, I found myself embracing unconventional tools like a cut-up credit card to spread creativity. This was followed more watercolour based version which was meant to be ‘soft’ but I’d got pretty mixed up by then….and my desk wasn’t coping😅

It was really interesting to see how the two different approaches developed. There are elements in both that I really like but I can’t decide if I prefer one over the other. .
WHICH VERSION DO YOU PREFER ?

🙌 Just finished filming a LONG exclusive video for Patreon members where I share ALL the pigments and brands of watercolours I currently use in my palette. As an bonus Patrons can also watch the process video for painting the actual palette (no I didn’t clean it up specially) So make sure you sign up to my Patreon to watch as it’ll be ready by Friday (or before) .
Although I was annoyed I smudged some of the swatches it’s a lesson in patience - I should have left that page to dry before painting on the opposite page 🫣.

‘30 paces from home’ This little sketchbook now accompanies me on my daily morning walks.
I’m able to spend 30 minutes filling double-page spreads with mixed media ( pretty random selection hence odd palette choices) This ritual has become my daily mindfulness practice, grounding me in the present moment as I capture whatever I see around me.These sketches aren’t meant to be fully finished or realized pieces. Swift sketches like these hold immense value and should never be overlooked or dismissed, as they capture the essence of the creative journey. And while the algorithm may not always favor these raw sketches, I believe in being truthful by sharing the ALL parts of the process & journey .
I fit my sketchbook and the small selection of art materials in a round mini shoulder bag .
