Guess what has arrived recently, yes a new batch of yarns. I get super excited when the postie brings new yarns to my front door.

Just look at all these fabulous colours and styles that have arrived, which catches your eye?

These balls are all ready for pre-planned projects, but what I wonder?

I would love to see if you can work any of them out, pop your guesses in the comments below.

If you could choose what goes on my needles next, what would you get me to knit?

CUSTOMER FAVOURITE

There are some outfits my amazing customers just keep coming back for - this Baby Marble set is definitely one of those.

I can see why it's so popular. The pretty self patterning marble effect yarn creates a beautiful pattern, making no 2 garments ever the same.

These are soft and cosy, making them ideal for the cooler days when a jacket isn't necessarily needed.

Who would you love to see wearing one of these?

Good Afternoon, hope you are enjoying your Bank Holiday whatever you are up to.

Today we say goodbye to August and the summer months, and tomorrow say welcome to September and all the cosy Autumn vibes. Are you all set for the "Ber" months?

In keeping with this, I thought I would share with you some of the knitting I have completed this month.

Thanks goes to all my wonderful customers and supporters who continue to be there for me month to month.

What creation is your favourite this month?

Good afternoon bit of a late post today as I am currently watching Stanhope Silver Band at Weardale County Show.
For today I have a simple This or That.
We are rapidly approaching the cooler months, so my question for everyone today is do you prefer Autumn Knits - pumpkins, cozy hats, mitts and sweaters or Christmas Knits - Festive and Colourful

🎅CHRISTMAS SWEET TIN COVERS 🎅

You've heard of Christmas jumpers... but what about one for your sweet tin?

I know it's only August but some people do start their organisation early.

Why have a plain tub of chocolates sat out on a table when you could give it a festive makeover?

These handknit sweet tin covers are such a fun way to turn a boring tub of chocolates into part of your Christmas decorations but they still have an edible hidden secret inside.

Choose from these 6 festive favourites - Santa's Face, Santa's Belt, Trees, Snowman, Christmas Pudding or reindeer.

Would this make a perfect gift or would you keep it for yourself?

Good evening, who's ready to learn something new tonight.

3 things you probably didn't know about choosing yarn for baby knits.

Are you one of those folk that thinks choosing a yarn is just about picking the colour you like best - well guess what there's a lot more to it than you might think.

1 Softness is definitely something you should be thinking about, a yarn for babies needs to feel lovely and soft against their delicate skin. You should also consider is it easy to care for - can I just through it on the washing machine or does it need to be hand washed? A lot of mums still choose to wash baby knits by hand regardless.

2 Have you ever thought about how the choice of yarn can affect how the finished garment looks. Different brands and fibres have different thicknesses and textures. This can change how the item hangs, feels and even how well the pattern stitches show up.

3 Following on from this, different fibres have different benefits
Acrylic, cotton, wool and blended yarns all behave differently when knit up.
Acrylic is easy to care for & practical, cotton is breathable, while as you may have already guessed wool gives the most warmth. So you need to think about how is baby item going to be worn and when will it be worn before picking your final yarn.

What have I learnt about this through previous experience you may ask.
The prettiest yarns aren't always best for the item I'm trying to knit. Picking your favourite colour of yarn is fun, but it's not always comfortable or practical. It needs to be something that can be worn frequently and not just dumped in a drawer because it is difficult to care for.

When you’re choosing baby clothes, what's most important to you - softness, easy washing, natural fibres, colour or something else?

WISDOM WEDNESDAY

Today I thought i would share something different you. Have you ever wondered what is my favourite yarn to knit with?
Well wondered no longer, my favourite yarns to knit with are Lily's Sugar N Cream ombre and solid yarns. But what makes me sad is that a lot of the original colours I used have now been discontinued. I have managed to stock up on some of the shades but not all.

I love using these yarns because they turn in to my wonderful eco-friendly range so are great for our planet.

If you chose a yarn in your favourite colour, what would it be?

BUSINESS CHALLENGES

Good evening, hope you've had a great Tuesday.

A lot of people may not be aware of the challenges that can be faced when asked to knit a garment.
Imagine a friend had a machine knitted top that they really loved but bought from a shop several years previously. Said top was now passed it's best, but she really wanted another top knitted in the same style. How easy do you think this would be?

Let me tell you it's really difficult. First I needed to source a pattern then the yarn and button toggles etc. Finding th pattern was a challenge in itself, but after many hours trawling the Internet I eventually found a plain top pattern that I then had to adapt from 3 other patterns. I needed an extra pattern for the neck, one for the pockets and another for the cable patterns. The yarn choice was made after searching several wool websites to find a colour she liked.

I eventually knit up all the pieces for the top carefully checking the sizing against the original garment. Unfortunately I did have to pull back a couple of pieces to correct the size.

Lastly trying to fit the hours required to knit up an adult cardigan in to my day to day life is tricky, how do you think you would manage?

BEHIND THE SCENES

Well here we have another handknitted item ready to post.

From the customer picking the colour and yarn to me knitting the item up, adding the finishing touches and carefully packaging the parcel up - each order is created with love and attention to detail.

A huge thanks must go to this customer who chose to support my small handknitting business - I really appreciate your order.

Every order I ever receive means the world to me.

Now to pop to the Post Office and send this parcel on it's way.

I wonder where this could be heading?
