We love hearing about the creative and often unexpected ways our customers use their wool by-products when they leave the mill! Thank you to Neil for sharing his experience.

Our Carded Waste products are created by repurposing fibre leftovers, giving these valuable natural materials a second life. From craft projects and insulation to specialist applications such as vintage/veteran car oiling systems, our mill by-products continue to find all sorts of uses πŸ’š

We're more than just a spinning mill, we're a development and testing facility, helping transform ideas into reality through our research and new product development work.

From trialling unusual fibre blends to creating bespoke yarns and exploring new uses for undervalued fibres and mill by-products, our team loves a challenge. Over the years we've worked with a wide variety of natural materials, developing unique products that showcase the versatility and potential of British wool and other natural fibres.

Whether you're a farmer, designer, brand, researcher or business with an idea for a new fibre product, we'd love to explore it with you.

What a stunner! The Scottish Blackface ram β€œMacgregor,” owned by James R. Dempster of Ladyton, was photographed by Charles Reid around 1890.

The Blackface, or Scottish Blackface, is a British sheep breed and the most common in the United Kingdom.

Despite its name, it didn’t originate in Scotland but rather south of the Anglo-Scottish border. Its exact origins remain unclear, but it reached the Scottish Highlands in the late eighteenth century, replacing the earlier Scottish Dun-face or Old Scottish Shortwool, a Northern European short-tailed type likely similar to today’s Shetland.
