Winter driving in the UK isn't for everyone, but if you're actually going to do it, you might as well have a decent plan. Wandering Bird over on their motorhome blog has listed out ten routes worth considering, ranging from Scottish Northern Lights chasing down to Welsh peaks and whatever else fits the brief. Some of it will be nonsense depending on weather, obviously. Some of it might actually work.

Planning a winter road trip? Want to explore some of the best places in the UK? Here are 10 of the BEST UK winter road trip ideas (plus tips)

Galway gets a lot of attention and fairly so, but most people don't venture beyond the town itself. Keith O'Hara over at The Irish Road Trip has mapped out six day trips that work well from there - stuff he's actually done rather than just listed. Worth knowing if you're spending more than a couple of days in the area and don't want to end up in another mediocre pub.

The car free option: If you’re looking for day tours from Galway without a car, this 8.5-hour tour is one of the best-value options. For €50, transport and

Right, so there's a 165km loop from Galway that takes you out to the Cliffs of Moher and back, mostly along the coast through the Burren. About three hours and forty-five minutes of driving, which as day trips go is fairly reasonable. The Irish Road Trip did a breakdown of how to structure it, if you're the type who likes having someone else work out the route before you get on the road.

It's a straightforward 165km/103-mile loop that involves around 3 hours and 45 minutes of driving, much of it along the coast through the Burren - a vast

Getting from Galway to the Cliffs has actually become straightforward lately. According to The Irish Road Trip, you've got two public bus routes to pick from now, the 350 and another option, which means you're not reliant on a single operator anymore. For anyone heading that way without their own transport, it's worth knowing what's actually available before you turn up at the station.

Getting the bus from Galway to the Cliffs of Moher has become a lot easier in recent years, as you now have two public bus routes to choose from - the 350 and

Winter lay-up for the motorhome is one of those tasks that feels like it should be simple but somehow isn't. There's a lot of moving parts to it - water systems, batteries, tyres, damp. Wandering Bird's put together a checklist that runs through 25 steps for getting the van ready for the cold months. Useful if you're planning to park it up for a while.

Right, so the DJI 1kW fast car charger has given up the ghost again. Not ideal when you're relying on it to keep the drone batteries topped up. I've written a post about it on the blog because apparently that's what I do now when things break - I document it.

I'm thinking a spare might be the sensible option at this point. One charger failing could be bad luck. Two? That's just a pattern.

Our replacement DJI 1kW Fast Car Charger died in under two months. Here's why we're now buying a spare and an expansion battery to stay off-grid safely.

Right, so we've had a bit of a week. Headed out to Trory Jetty on Lough Erne for what was supposed to be a quiet spot, but of course there's van damage to sort out and MOT day lurking in the background. You know how it is. Made a video about it if you want to see what we've been up to.

Back from Scotland, back to Trory Jetty, and back to the scene of l...
