The National Side Saddle Show 2026! 🥳

Not 1....Not 2...but 5 Foxglove Costumes competing 😱

🏆 Jade and Eamon in their stunning tweed placing 6th in their section

🏆 Jess and Kinchie in a Scottish themed blue and tartan placing 5th in the Unplaited section

🏆 Lexi and Paige wearing their regal purple and placing 7th in their section

🏆 Carol and Blondie wearing her eye catching Foxglove made jacket and reticule in the Historical class, placing 6th in her section

🏆 Morgan and Duke wearing the one and only Lady Worsley, making it's debut appearance at the national show and placing 2nd in their section

Concours Tip of the Week................

Same old same old, every season there appears badly fitting skirts on Concours Costumes, which pains me greatly because the same people who complain bitterly about the price of a beautifully made professional designed costume bought and often bespoke from one of the EXPERIENCED time served SUCCESSFUL dressmakers in CDE,, will happily pay the same amount of money to a complete amateur to BUTCHER their fabric and make what amounts to a RUG, for them to actually go around the showring in, looking like a reject before breakfast...........

Let me say, it makes me angry.... & the whining about us Dressmakers keeping Trade secrets also is annoying,,, It's not Trade secrets its Knowing our business.. and using Judgement.. Nothing to do with anyone else and non of your business,,,

But on this occasion I will tell the population a 'SECRET'

If you don't have a 4 1/2 metre LENGTH of fabric then you don't have enough for even the smallest pony skirt... OK..

I really do hate that Fabric is expensive, and getting more so every season, yet people spoilt if for themselves by their handiwork

The saying goes,,

Do stupid things, Win stupid prizes,= ZERO .........................
totally applies to this habit in CDE...

Concours Tip of the Week!

HATS!
They don't have to match your costume, ie, be made out of the same fabric or colourways. Just choose a hat which suits your face and does something to lift your costume.
For example - You may have a very dark costume, and a cream hat with some flashes of coloured trim will just brighten the whole effect up!
A brown costume will suit a peach or gold hat.
A dark wine costume will suit a beige hat with wine feathers and deep red roses.

Let your ideas flow!

Hats are a very personal expression of your style.
Give them their Moment.🥰

🪻🪻Concours Tip of the Week, Petticoats! 🪻🪻

We all need petticoats under our side saddle skirts and in hand skirts.

So, Why do we need petticoats?
They support the outer skirts and help keep their shape in the show ring.
They can be colour matched to your costumes for a thoughtful nod to your presentation.
Fortunately, I went on a petticoat making spree for the recent talk I did last Saturday so I will be putting what I made up for sale.
Along with a lovely selection of Jabots, if you order two items I will include postage within the UK.

Many thanks to all my Foxglove Habit's Clients and friends and to my Sponsored riders, Morgan & Jade, who showed off my costumes with such grace this season.. I look forwards to what next season will bring and hope to produce some new designs to please everyone. All I can promise is I want to sew more astride rider costumes using my new designs as a jumping off point for some truly classy costumes.

So if you fancy a restrained and tasteful ensemble with Historical bones???????????????? I'm your gal.
