Midweek Spring Light 🍋✨

A little sun, even on grey days.
This week’s inspo: a soft lemon cropped blouse for freshness, paired with statement dark denim barrel jeans for structure — grounded with butter 🧈 yellow sneakers for contrast, and finished with a buttery yellow leather bag that ties it all together.

To finish off, add this time red as an accent colour and to create some interest - with jewellery and lipstick 💄

✔ Light tones = instant lift
✔ Strong denim shapes = modern edge
✔ Unexpected colour pairing = standout style

Takeaway: When working with soft shades, anchor them with depth — and add one unexpected colour to keep things interesting.

Last week I had the pleasure of doing a Colour and Style event at DMH Stallard for - an amazing group of women who work in M&A. What a fun evening 😄

After my 🎨colour talk, everyone got a mini colour consult, with some actionable take-always whilst having 🍾, nibbles and trying out new 💋 lipstick colours.

I always.see on these events, how an interactive event like this are not only about style but also about and forging new connections in a relaxed atmosphere.

Notice how some colours can make your skin look ✨radiant ✨ and bright whilst others 🧽 wash you out?

Depending on your - colours from the cool or warm seasons tend to look better.

I absolutely love the first picture or Kirsten Dunst where she really nails it 🔥

Comment below: COOL air WARM?

A glimpse behind the scenes from my TV styling work :)

How did I go from couture dress maker to personal stylist?

Storytime!

So in the last part, we left off with how I began working with Angelika S - making corsetry & costumes for the Bolshoi & other international opera and ballet productions..

It was actually a friend that saw a house near my street had a corset sign on it and mentioned it to me, as it turns out was Angelika’s atelier!

So, as you did back then, I went over and knocked on the door, introduced myself and we got chatting - which must have gone well as she offered me a job & I ended up working for her for over 4 years!

Angelika really taught me to look at the body in a different way.

If you’ve ever been to the opera or a ballet - you’ll see the garments are not only beautiful but also have to move with the performer. They have to fit them perfectly and allow them to move freely.

This really taught me the importance of fit - and is why you so often will hear me saying it’s all about the fit!

So, after working with Angelika I moved to the UK and - inspired by everything I had learned about corsetry - opened my own couture Bridal business in 2004. I ran my business from the iconic Oxo tower in London, working with 100s of brides over my 22 years in business - even having one of my dresses appear in st pauls cathedral!

The ‘Invisible Years’ - and Why They’re Anything But

So many women in their late 40s and 50s tell me, “I feel like I’ve disappeared.”
Not in their careers or friendships—but in how the world sees them, and how fashion sells to them.

This stage of life is rarely talked about honestly. Style advice gets thin. Marketing turns to younger faces. Clothes feel like they’re for someone else. 🫤

Yet for many women, this is the moment they reconnect more deeply—with their time, their power, their voice. And their style deserves to evolve with them.

Here’s what I tell my clients going through perimenopause and beyond:
👉 Choose natural, breathable fibres (bamboo, cotton, silk)
👉 Go for ease and movement, not oversized
👉 Find fabrics with fluidity, not cling
👉 Keep structure where it counts
👉 Above all: fit first—not to “fix” your body, but to meet it where it is now

Midlife style shouldn’t be about “toning down.”
It should be about showing up. Not to look younger—but to be fully yourself.

You’re not invisible. Not even close.

What the Oscars 2026 reveal about colour

A clear shift this year - safe, controlled, and visually? Very little colour

Black 🌚 dominated, then white, gold, silver
- and a few reds ❤️

Anne Hathaway is my favourite pick. She looks stunning yet almost 'natural'.
Her dress mirrors her natural colouring, which is why it feels effortless and aligned.

Jessie Buckley: the vibrant red dress paired with bright pink felt slightly 'off'. I found the red too overpowering and the contrast too high. A warmer tone would have made all the difference.

Emma Stone, one of my favourite actresses ✨so sad to see her in a. the silver dress that really washes her out. In gold, she comes alive.

The takeaway:
Colour and contrast and tonal qualities play a big part and really change depending on the person who wears it.
It can either make an outfit look amazing😎 or slightly 🙁

What's your take on the Oscar gowns? Any favourites?

If you want to have a strategy and understand how to best choose colours for your wardrobe to look amazing, drop me a line. I'd love to chat.
