LOVERBOY has always been about resilience.
It started as a small group of friends making something instinctively, It has carried me through some very hard moments. Now it’s a company, but it still holds the responsibility of showing where it came from and proving that world still exists.
That scene is smaller now. People have grown up, moved on, taken different paths. But it comes back when we gather. When the music hits right. When we push ourselves into heightened versions of who we are. When we disappear into the room, the sound, the moment.
That’s what we did in Paris.
We made a presentation on £24k. I’m saying that plainly because it matters. I have 14 employees, a studio at Somerset House, a good order book, and strong stores supporting us. Still, things are hard right now.
It’s strange watching peers scale faster while you’re still holding things together, still figuring it out. But the reality is that everyone is fighting in their own way.
I needed this show to remind myself what the job actually is. Making something with people you trust. Finding value in small details. Letting creativity lead when resources are tight.
The process was chaotic. We asked a lot of people and relied on trust, and collaboration. On the models. On Baby’s Berserk. On hair and makeup. And most importantly the clothes.
Of course I would love the big show, the full system around it. I’ve had that, and I want it again. This season wasn’t that.
What it was, was instructive. Every season teaches me something about how to work better, lead better, and keep going.
Right now success looks like resilience. Knowing when to let go. Knowing when to stand my ground. Staying connected to why I started.
LOVERBOY has so many stories still to tell, it now needs to work on its new book.
These images show the work behind the magic. The rehearsals, the energy, the scale of what we built with very little. But I don’t want scarcity to define our story forever, it’s fu***ng boring.
I want growth. Stability. Proper support, by people who know what they are doing. I want to build this company into what it can be.
And I will do that because,
I believe in myself.
&
I believe in LOVERBOY.
