For us, Mother’s Day has always meant May, back when we were growing up in 🇲🇾🎀

Now that we are raising our daughter in the UK, we have slowly adapted to celebrating it in March, just like the British do🇬🇧

It actually makes more sense for Kaitlynn too. Each year she starts noticing the gifts appearing in shops weeks before the day arrives in March, and the excitement builds from there🌷

This year she surprised Xinny with a hamper, a handmade card, and a rose she carefully prepared. We had a lovely meal at a Thai restaurant, because no matter where we live, Asian food will always be our comfort food🥰

They are all so thoughtful, but the truth is the gifts are not the most important thing.

Having a healthy and happy child is the greatest gift of all. We are forever grateful that she chose us to be her parents, a perfect blessing from God🥹

Happy Mother’s Day to all women, those who are mums, new mums, those who hope to be mums, and those who carry a mother’s love in their hearts🌸❤️

Happy 15th Valentine’s❤️

The first photo was taken by our little girl. Fifteen years later, we still find joy in the simplest things. A long winter walk under the big sun, open cliffs, the sound of waves below 🌊

And in another, she quietly placed her little hand behind Xinny’s back as she walked uphill because she knows about her back pain.

Sometimes love isn’t grand.
It’s steady. It’s thoughtful. It grows with you.

Growing up in Malaysia back in the 2000s, weekends were more about tuition, homework, or staying indoors because of the heat.

Pony riding was never part of our childhood🐴

Childhood looks different depending on where you grow up, this was never something we imagined for ourselves🥹

Grateful, emotional, and sometimes a bit bittersweet because our parents never had the chance to give us experiences like this.

Raising a child in the UK has shown us not better, not worse — just different, one we’re still learning to appreciate❤️

What’s one thing your kids experience that you didn’t?

The first two years of her life, we filled the house with toys and books. And while she had her moment, we slowly realised that what lights her up the most isn’t what sits on a shelf, it’s what she experiences out in the world.

In the last two years, we’ve watched her face come alive outdoors: the big smiles, the dancing, the jumping, the way she fully immerses herself in every new adventure regardless in the country or overseas. It’s joy we don’t always see when she’s at home with toys or books! 🥹

She even got to experience a few hands-on activities just like in the film. Unfortunately, they don’t allow photos or videos inside, but the memories were worth it👍🏻✨

So yes, even the experience costs a bit more for an hour family activity but seeing her beam with happiness reminded us:
toys might get forgotten, but experiences build her confidence, curiosity, connection in the wider world and these memories stay with her forever❤️🐻

There is one thing we never miss during the autumn season:

Visiting the pumpkin fields 🎃
Kaitlynn has been going since she was just a year old, and she still finds them just as magical.

When she was younger, we used to visit the simple farms with only pumpkins and a wagon.

As she’s grown, we’ve started going to the ones filled with decorations and fun activities. We still laugh remembering the time she politely said, “No, thank you,” as she walked past a spooky skeleton.

This year’s trip was extra special, with so many new things for her to explore and enjoy 😉

Back in Malaysia, pumpkin fields weren’t part of our childhood, so we feel truly grateful that it has become one of our family traditions here in England. It’s a reminder of how beautiful it is to blend old roots with new memories, one pumpkin patch at a time. 🍂

Not long after we got married, Xinny moved to the UK to live with Jack. We started our life in London, and after almost three years, we moved to a seaside village when our baby was 4 months old 🌊🇬🇧

We still miss London sometimes, especially the food. Growing up in Malaysia means cravings are always around the corner, whether it is Japanese, Indian, or Malaysian. Sometimes we would even finish breakfast and drive straight to the city for a spontaneous trip 🍱🍛🍜

Our daughter once asked to see the house where we first rented a room. Walking on that familiar road brought back so many memories🍀

Life in London was not easy. Morning commutes were packed like sardines, bathrooms were shared, and food often disappeared from the fridge. Once Jack cooked lunch for the next day and minutes later our housemate accidentally knocked it all onto the floor. 💔

That was when we promised ourselves to save and work harder for our own space. Eight months later we finally moved into our first little one bedroom flat. 🏡✨

Life was simple and money was tight, but we had a shared goal and each other. Walking through London again with our daughter reminded us of how far we have come and how grateful we are for our younger selves who never gave up.

We almost skipped it, again🪻🌸

Lavender fields had been on our list for ages, but the entry fees always made us hesitate especially knowing that in New Zealand, you can enjoy them for free, and in France, they stretch endlessly across the countryside😃🌾

Still, we decided to go for it this time, mostly for Kaitlynn🥰

We wanted her to experience the beauty firsthand, learn about the different types of lavender, and just enjoy being out in nature🌿🌱

It ended up being so much more than we expected, watching her light up while bug hunting among the flowers reminded us that sometimes the value isn’t in the size of the field, or the cost of the ticket, but in the little moments you can’t put a price on! 😍💜

What an honour! 🎉 Kaitlynn had the privilege of being a special guest at the Urban Beach Grand Opening alongside the Mayor of Eastleigh! 🏖️

Huge shoutout to Rich and Lindsey from Eastleigh BiD Visit Eastleigh for planning such a fantastic event! 🙌 The beach vibes, the energy, and the community spirit were amazing 💛

Kaitlynn had an absolute blast, her highlights were the mini golf, donkey rides, and getting her first-ever caricature portrait!

The urban beach is open all summer, and there are so many fun activities coming up in August! ☀️ Don’t miss:

🧼 slime-making fun

Again, we’re really grateful for this opportunity, it’s a day we’ll always remember, and a truly special memory for Kaitlynn 💕
