It's been one so hot lately. Nobody seems to be working on chunky jumpers at the moment, but smaller projects are appearing everywhere. One of the nice things about textile skills is that they don't mind if you change your plans.

Swap the cardigan for socks. Swap the blanket for a granny square. Or just do ten minutes instead of two hours. It all counts.

What are you making at the moment?

It's been ridiculously hot lately. We've noticed something interesting though. People haven't stopped making. They've just changed what they're make. The chunky jumpers have gone back in the bag, and suddenly everyone is knitting socks, crochet flowers or smaller projects instead. Your making doesn't have to look the same all year.

A summary of this week:

Counted rows.

Recounted rows because we didn’t trust the first count.

Untangled yarn.

Fixed mistakes.

Discovered the mistake wasn’t actually a mistake.

Drank coffee.

Pretty standard Textile School activities.

We’re about halfway through our current Textile School block now.

Some projects are exactly where people expected them to be.

Most aren’t.

A few have been ripped back. Some have changed direction completely. Several are taking longer than expected. One or two are moving much faster than expected.

But when we look around the room compared to five weeks ago, everybody is further forward.

The project might not be finished, but that’s not really the point.

What have you learned recently?
