Travis Scott Reveals Which Soundtrack He Wants To Do

Travis Scott continues to be one of the biggest artists in the world right now. Although he operates within hip-hop, his fame goes beyond the genre at this point. Following the release of his album Utopia, Scott spent a whopping four weeks at number one on the Billboard Albums chart. Overall, the album has gotten some great reviews, and it also has its fair share of haters. Regardless, Travis is winning right now, and he seems eager to get back into the studio for some creative endeavors.

It took Scott five years to release Utopia following Astroworld. However, moving forward, it seems like a five-year gap will not be happening again. In fact, perhaps Scott will be looking to go in the Kendrick Lamar direction. If you remember, Lamar did the soundtrack for the first Black Panther movie. Well, Scott is now displaying interest in doing his own superhero soundtrack. In the tweet below, Scott claims that he would love to be involved with Blade which is set to release in 2025.

For those who may not know, Blade follows a half-human/half-vampire who hunts down vampires. Overall, he is a fantastic comic book hero that used to be played by Wesley Snipes. Now, however, the role is being given to Mahershala Ali. Ali is an incredible actor and fans are excited to see what kind of energy he will bring to the role. That said, Scott's music is known for being dark, and it would certainly go well with the whole vampire theme. Needless to say, the artist needs to get in touch with the movie studio immediately.

Hopefully, Travis Scott is able to make this happen, as it would be a whole lot of fun. Let us know if you would like Scott to be part of the Blade soundtrack, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will always bring you the biggest news from the biggest artists.

Beyoncé Has Tapped DJ Khaled To Join Her Reinassance Tour

Beyoncé has once again called on DJ Khaled to join her on the remainder of the Reinassance world tour. Khaled took to Instagram to share the news with fans. "When the Queen calls...I run," he said. The We The Best hitmaker previously joined the Queen Bey on her Formation tour. Looks like he's over the moon about reuniting with the Grammy-Award-winning singer.

"RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR WE ON OUR WAY !" he began. "Can’t wait to open up for the Queen in LA Sep 1st and Sep 2nd! LETS GO! & [bee emoji] make sure to get there at 7:30! [disco emoji] thank you for the invite! When the Queen [crown emoji] calls … I run!! [runner emoji]." He continued: "BEYONCÉ DID! !Til Next Time ✌🏽🫶🏽 . FYI I have nooo tickets!"

On the music front, the producer recently announced he has a new album coming TIL NEXT TIME. He once again took to social media to share the news with his fans. “I got a very blessed call this morning! 9 am ! My album Til Next Time is going to be very special! Taking my time putting this album together this call I got this morning wow !” his post began. While he doesn’t specify what specifically has him so excited he does continue on hyping up the project. “All I have say is the 2 keys it’s GOD SENT! Nothing like have real brother that loves you and want u to win big ! Fanluv Til Next Time!” he wrote in an Instagram post.

In other related news, Cam'ron recently opened up about having to stop his crew from robbing Khaled. In a snippet he shared for his upcoming mixtape, the rapper opens up about the story. “Old 40th, your g-pass is not that valid/ I swear to God I stopped my young boys from robbing Khaled (another one)/ Cam did!” he rhymes. It's unclear what was the motive behind the attempted robbery, but Khaled is probably more than grateful. And so are we.

The Weeknd Posts Studio Pics With Metro Boomin & Mike Dean, Fuels Release Rumors

Abel Tesfaye will soon hang up The Weeknd moniker, but not before he finishes his trilogy (and discography) with its last installment. Moreover, his most recent social media post hinted to fans that his last era is in development, and that he has some big and familiar names helping him out. The Canadian superstar recently uploaded some studio session pictures to his Twitter account featuring none other than Metro Boomin and Mike Dean. Considering both legendary producers’ extensive collaborative history with Abel, it’s no wonder that fans are expecting more heat from this link-up. All they can hope for is that something drops soon, and that this post isn’t just a tease that won’t come to fruition for a while longer.

However, since the After Hours creative is still on tour, maybe he takes a while before diving into another project full-on. That being said, he did keep up with the rollout and release of his HBO series “The Idol” during these tours, in addition to dropping new music for it. Sure, the show was far from the most universally praised piece of content this year, but it was certainly one of the most talked-about. As such, all this anticipation and these extracurricular have fans thirsting for The Weeknd’s grand finale.

Furthermore, the most likely scenario is that his next album will complete the trilogy established by the aforementioned 2020 LP and Dawn FM. Still, there are other avenues that The Weeknd could take to wrap up this phase of his career, and they might involve some names in these studio snaps. For example, Mike Dean said that he and the 33-year-old are working on a joint project. Given their appearances on each other’s previous work, this wouldn’t be surprising, but no less welcome for die-hards.

Meanwhile, we’ll see if the XO mogul returns to R&B and trap-flavored sounds or if he keeps the club party going with more dance inspiration. Either way, it should make for a monumental, grandiose, and fitting end to one of the most influential and successful artistic runs of the 21st century. One thing’s for sure, though: maybe the name behind House Of Balloons will be no more, but Abel Tesfaye’s not going anywhere. Travis Scott Breaks His Own Record For Vinyl Sales

Yesterday, it was announced that Travis Scott’s smash hit album UTOPIA would spend a third week at the number one spot on the Billboard 200. After dropping last month, UTOPIA became the second rap album of 2023 to hit number one on the Billboard 200. It came just a few weeks after Lil U*i Vert’s Pink Tape became the first rap album at the top spot this year, breaking up a long run at number one by Morgan Wallen. The album also ties Astroworld as Scott’s longest-running number-one album.

But those aren’t the only impressive feats UTOPIA has achieved. Two weeks ago, the album broke the all-time record for most vinyl sales by a rap album in a single tracking week with 55k. This week, Scott broke his own record. But he didn’t just break the record, he smashed it. With an astonishing 93k sold Scott is now miles ahead of any other rapper’s vinyl sales record. UTOPIA had the third biggest opening weekend of any album this year behind only new projects from Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen.

Travis Scott also broke another impressive record among rappers. Over the weekend he passed Drake for the most active monthly listeners on Spotify for a rapper ever. When he reached 74 million monthly listeners he became the official holder of the record. Drake could potentially take the record back if he released a new album later this year. He was also elevated to the 6th most listened-to artist on the platform in the entire world following the release of UTOPIA.

The feature-packed UTOPIA has been at the center of much rap discussion recently. The project had an incredible feature list including Beyonce, SZA, Drake, Future, Playboi Carti, Young Thug, 21 Savage, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Yung Lean, Kid Cudi, and more. The album was met with a mixed reception from many music critics. What do you think about Travis Scott breaking his own record for vinyl sales by a rap album? Let us know in the comment section below.

Drake Has Heated Confrontation With Fan At One Of His Shows

The Drake and 21 “It’s All A Blur” tour can only do so much to prevent jerks from attending, but it hadn’t been a big problem for the artists until today. Moreover, a video is going viral online of Drake confronting a fan in the stands, seemingly shortly after his performance wrapped up since the lights are one. As he walks below a lot of cheering fans, the Canadian superstar threw his towel in the crowd. Apparently, from what commenters gathered and lip-read, a man caught the towel that was meant for a group of girls. The two started fighting over it, and Drizzy wasn’t at all happy with what he saw.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that this isn’t the true reason for the heated moment, but any theory won’t change his reaction. Drake stopped, said something to the fan, and apparently went back and forth with them for a little bit. At one point, the 36-year-old walks up very close to where the stands in the crowd are, much to the worry and dismay of his security team. Eventually, they ushered him away, and fans who didn’t know any better just kept cheering.

Hulu’s Sleeper Hit This Fool Is One of the Funniest Shows on TV

Need a laugh? Unfortunately, it’s a fallow time for small-screen comedy, as concurrent SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes have put Hollywood productions on hold. Late-night shows and SNL have been on hiatus since May. Upcoming seasons of streaming favorites like Hacks and Big Mouth are indefinitely delayed. Abbott Elementary, Ghosts, and just about every other network sitcom has been pushed off the fall schedule. The good news is, there are plenty of funny shows already on streaming services (that you can enjoy with the blessing of the unions, which have yet to call for consumer boycotts). I don’t just mean moldy standbys like Friends and The Office. Hulu’s This Fool, which debuted last year, is one of the most consistently hilarious shows on TV. And its full, 10-episode second season arrives on the platform on July 28.

As in many classic sitcoms, the premise is simple. Co-creator and stand-up comic Chris Estrada stars as Julio Lopez, a 30-year-old South Central L.A. native still living at home with his mom (Laura Patalano) and grandma (Julia Vera) while working for a nonprofit, Hugs Not Thugs, that reorients ex-gang members for the straight world. His cousin Luis (Frankie Quiñones) happens to be a former gang member, who has just been released from prison after a long sentence. A nerdy kid who grew up to be a repressed, self-abnegating adult, Julio has nothing but bad memories of Luis, who used to bully him. But they’re forced into close proximity anyway, because Luis has nowhere to go but his aunt’s house and nothing to do but Hugs Not Thugs.

“This fool” is a term of grudging affection as well as a pejorative, and a similar mix of comical exasperation, tough love, and good-natured ribbing defines both the cousins’ relationship and the tone of the show. For Julio, who’s stuck in an on-again-off-again cycle with his longtime girlfriend, Maggie (Michelle Ortiz), and risks aging into a lefty crank like his boss, Minister Payne (the great Michael Imperioli), the incorrigible Luis is a well-timed shock to the status quo. And for Luis, Julio is a whiny pain in the ass who just might pester him into getting his life back on track.

Estrada cleverly reverses their predicaments by the beginning of Season 2. Now, Luis has a job as a security guard at a men’s formalwear shop—and an unequivocally single Julio is also unemployed after Payne tries and spectacularly fails to peddle his sexual services to a couple of billionaire benefactors in exchange for a crucial donation to the perennially broke Hugs Not Thugs. At least he’s finally moved out of his mom’s house… and into the grimy, illegal garage apartment that Luis rents from a local character, Don Emilio (Ramón Franco). The neighbors are more bothered by Emilio’s rooster, whose crowing wakes them up at the crack of dawn.

The best comedies can be incredibly smart and gloriously stupid at once. This Fool strikes an ideal balance, grounding its central odd couple in the vividly specific dynamics of a working-class L.A. neighborhood where gangs and poverty persist, good jobs are hard to find, and cultural tensions can flare up between nonwhite communities as Black families live side-by-side with Latin American immigrants. Social consciousness is baked into the Hugs Not Thugs story line; this is a show about second chances. And the characters are richly observed, from Patalano’s obsessively frugal Esperanza to Luis, a reactive schemer whose soft center is always visible beneath his tough exterior thanks to a standout performance from Quiñones.

Instead of starting with an agenda and stirring in jokes, Estrada lets his commentary come out organically, through plots that reflect the daily absurdities of urban life and humor whose target is often the rich and amoral. Scenarios range from purposely banal (one Season 2 episode opens with a pair of white office drones puzzling over what to write in a retirement card for Esperanza, who’s cleaned their space for 23 years) to the borderline surrealism of an excellent two-part episode that finds Julio and Luis taken hostage in a bodega robbery. (Julio’s bored mom and grandma eventually show up to spectate.) The comedy is both gleefully, raunchily physical—the size of Payne’s, er, endowment is a running joke—and weirdly observant. “You look like you eat oven-baked chips,” one character scoffs at Julio, and he really does.

If the challenge of a debut season is to establish compelling characters, a vividly realized social world, and a distinctive voice while also moving the story along, then it’s in the follow-up that a show must prove its potential for longevity. Like Reservation Dogs and The Bear (to name two of the most acclaimed comedies of the current decade), This Fool uses its second season to capitalize on the character development it accomplished in the first, remixing the ensemble into new configurations, adjusting the backdrop, and devoting whole episodes to individual supporting players. Story lines focused on the cousins’ love lives can feel a little too familiar; the female characters could use some more depth. But when the show is in its sweet spot, with Julio and Luis and sometimes Payne busting each other’s chops and getting in their own way, it’s as funny as anything you’re likely to watch in this cursed year for comedy.

What to Know About Jonathan Majors' Domestic Violence Trial

The trial for Jonathan Majors' domestic violence case is set to begin on Aug. 3, with the 33-year-old actor facing up to a year in jail if he is convicted on misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment.

Majors was initially arrested in March and charged with misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment, attempted assault, harassment, and strangulation following an alleged domestic dispute with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The strangulation charge was later dropped, and Majors has pleaded not guilty to the other four charges.

Majors' star was on the rise ahead of his arrest, with breakout turns in the HBO series Lovecraft Country, Marvel's Loki TV show and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania movie, and the Michael B. Jordan-directed blockbuster Creed III swiftly turning him into a household name.

In the wake of the charges, Majors’ management company, Entertainment 360, and PR firm, The Lede Company, both dropped the actor as a client, according to Deadline. In April, Variety reported that additional people had come forward alleging abuse by Majors and were cooperating with the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

“Jonathan Majors is innocent and has not abused anyone," said his attorney Priya Chaudhry in a statement released in April. "We have provided irrefutable evidence to the District Attorney that the charges are false. We are confident that he will be fully exonerated.”

Why long-term workplace trauma is a real phenomenon

Although some joke about being 'scarred' by past bad jobs, workplace-induced emotional trauma is real – with long-lasting effects.

When Emily started her first job in the legal industry, she was cautiously optimistic. After her graduation, the then-22-year-old was looking forward to joining the labour market. One of the managers at the office was also a woman of colour – a hopeful sign for the company’s culture – and she was excited about her salary, which felt substantial for a first-time worker.

However, she also saw some red flags: for one, an office culture built around drinking – so much so, she says, that she was asked to take shots with higher-ups after her final interview. “I'm a highly susceptible 22-year-old, just getting out of college, who wants to win the approval of the cis white [staffers]. I drank a lot more than I should have,” recalls Emily, whose name has been changed due to the sensitivity of her claims.

She says she experienced constant pressure to overwork, racial harassment and was pushed to engage with graphically violent and racist content. She experienced exhaustion to the point that she begged for a medical leave at the end of her first year. After threatening to quit, she was approved for time off; at the end, she realised she couldn’t go back. Ultimately, she quit – a decision she feels saved her life.

“I thought about jumping off the [building’s] balcony at one point,” says Emily. “It was like, no one ever comes up here except for the marketing team. If I go up here and just jump, it'll be fine. It's 32 stories, it'll definitely kill me.”

Emily held her position for only a year, and never formally reported her experiences. But now, almost three years after leaving, the job haunts her. She ties many of her current struggles with mental illness to her past workplace – still panicking after hearing an email notification at the weekend, for instance.

While society has long associated workplace trauma-induced mental illness with certain occupations like firefighting and the military, the notion of trauma developed from a toxic job or workplace is becoming increasingly recognised throughout the workforce.

In March, a viral Twitter thread exposed its prevalence. Well after leaving a job, people shared that anything from retracing their old commute to otherwise-banal office socialising might induce chest pains, muscle spasms and more.

Even without a clinical designation, workplace-induced trauma is a tangible issue – one that’s especially gaining attention as younger generations grow more vocal about their mental-health struggles. What do workers do when they can’t shake the ripple effects of a toxic workplace – and how can they heal?

Is extreme working culture worth the big rewards?

Aspiring young workers in top-tier jobs know they’re signing up for gruelling, startlingly long hours. Are the rewards in jobs like these worth the "crushing" toil?

As we head into 2022, Worklife is running our best, most insightful and most essential stories from 2021. When you’re done with this article, check out our full list of the year’s top stories.

Across entry-level positions at many top-tier global financial institutions and consulting firms, there are no illusions of nine-to-five schedules or summer holidays with phones left back at the hotel room. From the start, junior employees are aware that they’re entering a trial-by-fire – and it’s up to them to survive the flames.

However, just because these entry-level workers have some sense of what they’re going to be up against, it doesn’t always mean they’re adequately prepared, or that their expectations match their eventual reality.

In March, 13 first-year Goldman Sachs analysts – the group lowest on the corporate totem pole – put together a ‘survey’ on their working conditions at the esteemed, multi-national bank, in a document seen by the BBC. The survey, mocked up on Goldman Sachs’s official pitchbook template, detailed the group’s more than 95-hour workweeks, precarious mental and physical health, deteriorating personal relationships and conditions one respondent called “inhumane”.

The contents of the survey were, in some ways, shocking. But, in others, some of the results weren’t wholly unexpected. For many name-brand jobs, this is how things can operate for the those at the most junior levels – and have for a long time.

The prevailing narrative: that’s just the price you pay for a longer-term reward of power and prestige in big-name, big pay-cheque institutions. But for young people just jumping into the workforce, is the toil worth the epic reward, even if it may come with some worrying side effects? Some say maybe so.

A boot-camp mentality’

This nose-to-the-grindstone culture within these types of jobs has existed in some form for years, says William D Cohan, author of a best-selling book on the history of Goldman Sachs, Money and Power, and who also worked on Wall Street for 17 years.

For example, in finance, when major banks went public, the amount of work employees had to do “increased exponentially”, says Cohan. “Demand for what they did skyrocketed, and the demand on the employees then skyrocketed.”

In general, he believes “senior people don’t really want to do that much work. They do the important work of bringing in clients, but once the client is brought in, they push that work down to junior people”. And, often, there aren’t enough lower-level workers; compensation is the biggest expense for financial institutions, so generating profits means hiring fewer people, which can compound the amount of work that trickles down, adds Cohan.

He thinks many prospective employees have a sense of the workload they have to take on if they’re able to land one of these competitive jobs. Cohan cites motivating factors that make some workers accept the conditions: a substantial pay cheque as well as prestige, “bragging rights” of working at a household-name company and opportunities for advancement if minted by one of these institutions.

“It’s a boot-camp mentality,” says Cohan – simply part of the process of succeeding at a high level.

These prospective employees do mostly understand the impending workload, agrees Christopher R Di Fronzo, associate director of the Tufts Finance Initiative at Tufts University in Massachusetts, US, which helps place students in finance, consulting and entrepreneurial jobs. However, as graduates across these fields reconnect as alumni, he’s noticed some have underestimated the hours. “Once you live it,” says De Fronzo, “some find out it’s a really hard life to live.”

California has a plan for cutting Colorado River use. It involves pretending water doesn’t evaporate

California released a plan Tuesday detailing how Western states reliant on the Colorado River should save more water. It came a day after the six other states in the river basin made a competing proposal.

In a letter to the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, California described how states could conserve between 1 million and nearly 2 million acre feet of water through new cuts based on the elevation of Lake Mead, a key reservoir.

Its plan did not account for water lost to evaporation and during transportation — a move sought by the other states that would mean big cuts for California.

The 1,450-mile river (2,334-kilometer) serves 40 million people across the West and Mexico, generating hydroelectric power for regional markets and irrigating nearly 6 million acres (2,428 hectares) of farmland.

A multi-decade drought in the West worsened by climate change, rising demand and overuse has sent water levels at key reservoirs along the river to unprecedented lows. That has forced federal and state officials to take additional steps to protect the system.

California’s plan and the separate methods outlined by states Monday came in response to Reclamation asking them last year to detail how they would use between 15% and 30% less water. The federal agency operates the major dams in the river system.
