Here at Po-Zu, we have a Solvent-Free Policy, which means we will NOT use any solvent-based substances or glues in our footwear because they are harmful and pose hazardous health risks to factory workers. ☣️

Most of our shoes are designed with circularity in mind - which means they can be disassembled easily and re-born into something new. ♻️

In the main, they are also glue-less and stitched instead. We use natural latex as a temporary bond before stitching the upper and sole components together. Due to their complex construction, some of our shoes contain water-based glues.

Solvent-based glues are the industry norm and are used extensively in shoe factories, mainly because they provide a quick assembly method and are cheaper than hand-stitching. There are profound health implications for those exposed to solvents over frequent and long periods. 😢

We are over the moon to announce that PoZu has been accepted to join the Sustainable Fashion Innovation Society. 🖐️😊

The Sustainable Fashion Innovation Society is the largest community for sustainable fashion and design brands in Europe and supports brands by helping them make the green transition. ♻️

SFIS, through their sustainable partner, will also protect 25 trees as a result of Po-Zu joining the community. This is the equivalent to 1.25 acres saved, about 500 square meters saved, for about 12.3 tons of CO2 stored - which is just excellent, and we are honoured to be a part of the community and the innovation. 🌳

It all starts in the forest. 🌳

Cork is just one of the sustainable materials we use in our shoes. But do you know how it is harvested? ⬇️

Cork is a natural material harvested from the bark of the Cork Oak tree every nine years. The harvesting of the bark does not harm the tree, and a new layer of Cork quickly regrows, making it an excellent renewable resource.

It’s lightweight, wear-resistant, biodegradable, and together with its natural ability to absorb vibrations, it is the perfect choice for the insoles in our shoes. 👟
