Recruiting members of the anti-beige club.

No uniform needed; just women who want to feel something again when they get dressed:

A bit of joy.
A bit of energy.
A bit more like themselves.

And that’s what the anti beige club does. All welcome here šŸ«¶šŸ»

My mum is 74 and still unapologetically herself.

No pretenses, no filter, no apologies. She's a reminder that life's too short to tone it down. She wears pieces that feel like her and often ā€˜shops’ on my website (by shops I mean tells me what she wants when she sees it). 🤣

I think we often forget that our individuality is what makes life interesting. As we get older we start to conform, to avoid criticism and be more beige, but who made those rules? Who says we have to age out of colour and age out of being ourselves…certainly not my mum.

My mum (I know she looks incredible for 74) has encouraged me to always be my colourful self and really is an example that we can be whoever we want to be at any age.

Have you become more beige with age or are you still staying tutti frutti?

We’re told chic is about how you look but I think it’s much more than that.

I think it’s how you move through the world. How you treat people. My husband taught me to always ask a restaurant server’s name-I’ve seen the change it makes. Give it a try.

Of course we all have off days and just want to scream into a pillow (I think that’s totally normal by the way), but just a reminder that it’s always the small things that no one sees and everyone feels šŸ«¶šŸ»

What is your version of chic?

I’ve designed these across the years because nothing ever felt like me and I find the concept of black tie, dare I say, a little boring!

Help me pick 1,2,3 or 4? I think I’m ruling out 4 bc it’s only silver and I miss more colour but let’s see what you think…

Don’t forget I can (and I will) jazz them up even more with accessories šŸ˜‰

Over 40 and still wearing the things I’m told i shouldn’t:

-bold colours
-crop tops
-body con dresses (how 90s of me🤣)
-dungerees
-jorts
-baggy jeans
-clown trousers
-bra tops
-short shorts

I don’t care for age appropriate rules. I’d rather just be me, feel like myself and feel good.

What are you wearing that you’re told you shouldn’t. Add to my my manifesto below šŸ’Ŗ

I redesigned one of my favourite dresses because I wasn’t wearing it enough.

It was silk, not that comfortable, beautiful, but one that you may be inclined to wear less….

So I changed it. Made it softer, easier and of course I MOVED THE BOWS TO THE FRONT not the back because those need to be seen by the wearer!

So I give you the Noa jersey dress: hopefully coming soon in mini and maxi-to be worn without a second thought, on repeat šŸŽ€

I think we’re often told to pick one thing and stay in our lane.

But the more I create, the more I realise that’s not how creativity works or how life works. Fashion and art and intertwined and even nail art and epic cakes play a part in my inspiration.

The ideas, the energy, the excitement all comes from exploring, not confining and that’s been one of the best parts of my slower journey.

Have you ever felt like you had to fit into one box too? Are you breaking free too-let me know below šŸ«¶šŸ»

I just had an insightful 2 hour chat with the epic . One question Holly asked me was what was my greatest high and my biggest low.

It got me thinking about how easy it is to share the highs, but the lows not so much. Since I slowed down a lot of those pressures have changed for the better.

My greatest high was relaunching my brand (accidentally! * see my last post!) in a slower, more thoughtful way; realising not only that it may be my happiest and most ā€˜successful’ time, but that people really connected with the story behind it.

My biggest low was ironically at the pinnacle of my brand’s growth. Being congratulated by people on my success, but feeling burnt out, overwhelmed and unhappy on the inside.

Both the highs and low were a part of building my journey and I don’t think I’d be where I was today without experiencing it all.

What I have found out more importantly, is that the idea of ā€˜success’ looks very different to everybody and that not every part of growth has to look impressive.

What has been your greatest high or biggest low?
