finished these beauties in Saturday’s class. She made the upper patterns and the uppers
- wet molded the vamps
- butt stitched the back seam
- hand stitched the seams
- hand lasted and Norwegian welted stitched
- cemented and tacked the uppers to the wooden soles
- and the pièce de résistance, hand wove her own boot laces!

A great example of interdisciplinary hand skills and craftsmanship.

(Original clog soles by Phil Howard - sanded, dyed and rubber soled in class).

Always keen to help students push the boundaries made the patterns, uppers and then these beautiful clog boots came together in class on Saturday.

They’re a great example of cross-disciplinary practice combining saddlery, cowboy boot making, shoemaking and clog making techniques. The uppers were made with saddle stitch and butt stitch, the vamp was blocked (crimped) on a board, they were wet lasted, Norwegian welted to the insole and then tacked with antique brass upholstery tacks.

Just a good cream, burnish and laces left to go.
