Coral Turner Couture

Coral Turner Couture "When you don't dress like everyone else, you don't have to think like everyone else". Iris Apfel Red Carpet debut, there’s a celebrity in all of us.

Hi I'm Coral a couture women's wear designer who believes in individuality, which is why I have created an eclectic array of garments predominately dresses and tops, made in unusual and non repeatable bold colourful fabrics. It’s all about providing you with exclusivity whether it is dressing for an Awards Ceremony – well done to you! Cruise ship holiday dressing, your special birthday party, or w

hat to wear on your Honeymoon (well maybe not as much); either way dressing the best version of you is what its all about. My speciality ‘One-of-a-kind garments’ exactly as stated; the dresses and tops selected from my online boutique are the only one available and all are handmade. The concept for this grew from childhood where eclectic boutiques with their special finds were the norm. Then there were the harrowing stories, and my personal experience of attending an event and having someone turn up wearing exactly the same dress/garment. I decided to change this experience! The fabrics I work with are sourced globally, purchased in small quantities thus not repeated in the same design; I do so on purpose, standing out from the crowd matters. I have a love of fabrics, their texture, colour and designs, all speak to this artisan craft; which is why the couture ready-to-wear pieces are individually handmade, from my studio in Greenwich London. When a garment is distinctive it's timeless, that's important to me especially from the viewpoint of sustainability and quality. My blog posts on the website talk about life, lifestyle, our individual style and having appreciation for our bodies, as I believe this is important to our well being. In addition 'commissioned bespoke garments' are also available by appointment for consultation at my studio in East Greenwich London, telephone 07895 334577 or email [email protected] to start a conversation.

It's taken us 3 years to organise our breakfast/lunch and it was worth the texting and messages inbetween. this is a woman you want to keep a lookout for folks she's been featured in many adverts and getting ready for appearances in dramas!

A wonderful storyteller I was mesmerised listening to Yvonnes's screen plays and the characters portrayed, a one woman show in the making, I know the other people in the restaurant were also caught up in the story as it was so quiet. I felt we were listening to a live radio show.

I said I would post this as a reminder for to share at least one of her stories on Linkedin, now it's out there Yvonne and you can't back out😀 Seriously folks this is one of those you saw her here first moments. I am already picking out fabrics for her red carpet moments!

I've been busy crocheting away getting ready to attend some pop-up events with the Baker Boy Hats and Faux Fur Scarves. They are now part of my collection accessories added into the mix.

It's so exciting with a few butterflies in my stomach for good measure🤣 and to think the hats started out as a way to take my mind off work, but they are so lovely to make and wear.

I've made them in a variety of colours and wool textures, sold 3 already, which makes me smile as its all been this was not what I was planning to do, and yet here I am!

It just goes to show, provided you are open to explore new avenues doors open!

Forgotten Fashionistas is a project dear to my heart, it represents legacy and remembering remarkable black women within the fashion industry. It is an honour for me to represent some of these women (there are still more stories to be shared) thank you to The Voice, for more information, click on the link.

Black female fashion designers broke barriers, dressed first ladies, and created enduring work — yet history has kept them in the shadows

Taking time out to put myself in the frame, jersey two-piece teal dress with black contrast. Accompanied by my 'baker boy hat' (my mum taught me to crochet as a child) and its now been revised with the help of Crochet Queen Sue Fuller from an expert in crochet, I will have more to share about her work.

This mini video was designed by the gorgeous thank you Gary💋💖

Styling in my opinion is how you put a look together, the colours, pattern, detailing, and yes footwear! On Friday I attended a event and my beady eye spotted a couple of pieces that tick the boxes of styling whilst effortlessly chic as worn by Claire Pritchard from .

Forgotten Fashionistas is my passion project, I have been presenting talks and workshops in Greenwich sharing the stories of amazing black female fashion designers who are often a footnote in the world of fashion, and sometimes not even that!

With the support of thevoicenewspaper I was commissioned to write an article with my discoveries which is now available for you all to read. I will give you a little snippet one of the designers is currently 105 years old Ethel Kerr who staged fashion shows in the UK and abroad.

I continue to collect the stories of these formidable women on whose shoulders I proudly stand, so if you also know of black female fashion designers whose voices and stories need to be shared drop me an email at [email protected].

Don't forget to buy your copy of the October issue of The Voice Newspaper.

This was my view yesterday evening from the 29th floor at a wonderful networking event to celebrate cultural diversity and Black History Month, the wine and canapes were being devoured, there was laughter, drumming and a mini congo line🤣🤣 all good fun as people joined in.

As I took time out standing in front of this massive window I could see for miles; the view was spectacular however, I didn't have the full picture as I was only viewing from one side of the building. I was thinking how we can use this analogy for living, enjoying the view in front of us, without having to know the bigger picture as that will take care of itself...🤔

When shirt sleeves are too long there is a solution!

There are so many styles of sleeves and sleeve shaping, ‘The Classic Dress Shirt’ their sleeves sometimes have a lot of excess fabric in the upper arm, and this is to accommodate your bicep. With ready to wear garments, different fashion brands have fit models to represent their ideal customer w...
