Inspired by motherhood and in love with traditional Spanish clothes, the idea of the store came to this mummy-entrepreneur as a natural way of sharing a passion with other mothers. Completely designed and produced in Spain, products are reminiscing of those timeless children’s clothing pictured in grandma’s old photos, but with a modern twist. La Coqueta has a wide range of cute products that have

been beautifully crafted, and yet remain incredibly functional, as the entire collection is machine washable. The ideal solution for both active mums and busy bees.

“In La Coqueta, we believe that having our kids looking stylish and cool doesn’t have to be either uncomfortable for them nor unpractical for us, mums”, says Celia, founder of La Coqueta.

Behind the scenes at La Coqueta and 👟 We will be soon opening our New York store and I am currently buried in shoe boxes in the stockroom. People don’t always realise why children’s shoes take up so much space, and honestly, it all comes down to the sheer volume of boxes.

Working in retail is not always as glamorous as it looks. There is a whole process that happens before those shoes ever make it to a customer’s hands. Sharing a little glimpse of it today ❤️

“For me, celebration used to be reserved for life’s major events — holidays, birthdays, weddings, and awards called for big gatherings, special clothes, and delicious food. After having children, I realised that the real magic of childhood, of life really, is in appreciating the ordinary moments and treating them as special, also.
 
As my children get older, the things that replay in my mind are the funny moments back then: discovering their tastes for the first time, the tea parties, the walks around the neighbourhood, to the park, and bedtime stories. I call these the extraordinary ordinary.
 
The Atelier collection is especially beautiful to me, because a lot of the fabrics and details are certainly wedding worthy, but the designs aren’t to fussy or precious to wear for a pretty picnic or a beach frolic. They are the perfect way to highlight the extraordinary ordinary of life.”

Our Evelyn dress is a little different and, we’re so excited to bring it to you this Summer!

This is an exquisite hand embroidery from India called Chikankari and I like to wear myself on hot summer days and have loved it for years. La Coqueta is built on Spanish craftsmanship, and that’s still our heart. But craftsmanship doesn’t have a single home, it lives in skilled hands everywhere, and we wanted this dress to honor that.

So consider this a lovely step to celebrating beautiful handwork outside Spain, wherever it comes from. ❤️
