The weather is getting very warm again here in North London and so crocheting large projects that cover the lap as you work don't really fit the bill at the moment.

Many of Jane's patterns are made from individual motifs that are joined together once made and so it's actually a great time of year to start a blanket to be ready for the joining process when the weather has cooled down again! In the Mystical Lanterns blanket motifs are joined into strips first before the strips are joined in the final construction of the blanket.

Mystical Lanterns is a great pattern for stash-busting too, particularly where you have lots of single balls of different coloured yarns left over from other projects.

The latest edition of Inside Crochet magazine is all about plants and gardening and as you may have noticed, Jane loves creating crochet flowers. In the monthly journal this time Jane shows how to make a perfect picot, like those on the Hollyhock motif you can see in the photo here.

The Hollyhock is one of the motifs from the Fruit Garden blanket and all the patterns remain free to download from the Stylecraft Yarns website and yarn packs can be found in our webshop.

The Imogen blanket was originally made in a mercerised cotton which has now been discontinued. So, to breathe new life into the design, which was originally inspired by traditional Victorian crochet, it has been recoloured using the Yarnsmiths Pebble Haze DK yarn range from Wool Warehouse.
