I’m pleased to share that I will be at the South London Gallery for their Windrush Family Day on Saturday 27 June🌴✨

Come and join us for a free community day celebrating Windrush history and the culture, creativity, and contributions of the Caribbean community.

I’ll be leading a family-friendly workshop where you can design and make a colourful fabric wall hanging inspired by the Caribbean souvenirs brought to Britain by the Windrush Generation. Using fabric, drawing, and sewing, you’ll create your own piece to take home.

There’ll also be more arts and crafts, storytelling, music, and food to enjoy throughout the day. All activities are free and designed for children aged five to twelve, and everyone is welcome to come along, create, play, and celebrate together 😊

Windrush Day is on 22 June, and I’m marking the occasion with two relaxed raffia embroidery workshops over the weekend 🌴🌺

🗓️ Sunday 21 June, 10am–12pm

In each session, I teach the raffia embroidery technique I developed while creating my graduate collection inspired by the Windrush Generation. You’ll also hear more about the Caribbean crafts that inspire my work and leave with your own finished piece of hoop art.

The workshops are beginner-friendly, all materials are provided, and each session is limited to six people.

There’s also a special group offer available across all June and July workshop dates when you book by 30 June:

Join me for my next raffia embroidery workshop. These workshops are a lovely way to slow down for a couple of hours, try something creative, and learn my raffia embroidery technique in a relaxed small group. I’ll also share a little about the Caribbean craft inspiration behind the work, and you’ll leave with your own finished hoop art piece to take home.

You can come along on your own, or book with a friend. To mark Windrush Day, I’m offering special group pricing throughout June:

This offer applies to all available dates, including the July workshops, as long as you book by 30 June. After that, standard pricing returns.

Each session is kept small, with a maximum of six people, and all materials are provided. No experience needed at all.

June marks the start of lots of events celebrating the Windrush Generation, with Windrush Day taking place on 22 June 🌴

Windrush Day is an annual celebration in the UK remembering the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks in 1948, carrying more than 800 passengers from the Caribbean to the UK.

It’s a time to remember, honour, and celebrate the contributions of the Windrush Generation, from healthcare, politics, music, sport, and art to so many parts of British life.

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to my first raffia embroidery workshop in my new central London space! It was such a lovely way to begin this new chapter of workshops 🌴✨

These sessions are a chance to slow down, try something creative, and learn the raffia embroidery technique I developed while designing my Windrush-inspired graduate collection. I always share the story behind the work too, including how Caribbean craft traditions and the Windrush Generation continue to inspire my practice.

I have more workshop dates available in June and July, including dates around Windrush weekend (20 & 21 June), which feels like a really special time to learn this craft and spend a couple of hours making something by hand.

Today is International Doubles Day 🌴

It honours doubles, the much-loved Trinidadian street food made with two soft fried flatbreads, called bara, filled with curried chickpeas, known as channa, and topped with chutneys, cucumber, and pepper sauce.

One of the places I’ve tried doubles in London is .limin in Gabriel’s Wharf, South Bank. I enjoyed them so much they inspired me to have a go at making my own, which you can see in the photos.

They were totally delicious and well worth the time to learn how to make.

If you haven’t tried doubles before, you can head down to .limin to give them a try.

They’re also offering buy one get one free on doubles from Sat 30 – Sun 31 May, so it’s a good weekend to pop by.
