What does a content creator, a connector, a coach and a stylist have in common?

Quite a lot, as it turns out…

We’ve all reached that point in midlife where we’ve realised that somewhere along the way, we’ve become very good at looking after everyone else… and less good at putting ourselves first.

So myself, Karen, Debbie & Colette have created the thing we wanted to go to!

RETURN TO YOU is a nourishing day to enable you to RESTORE, REDISCOVER & RECONNECT with yourself in a beautiful setting in Glasgow.

This isn’t about reinventing yourself, finding a new you or adding another thing to your already overflowing to-do list. It’s about coming back to yourself. 🙌

The woman underneath the roles, the responsibilities, expectations and endless caring for others. Midlife brings changes from every direction;

Children leaving home.
Career shifts.
Retirement.
Divorce or separation.
Menopause.
Bereavement. Illness.
Or simply the realisation that you’ve lost touch with the woman you used to be.

We’ve created a beautiful, nourishing day filled with peaceful creativity, calm exploration, conversation, connection and inspiration, with plenty of time to simply breathe.

And because the four of us bring very different experiences to the table, you’ll have the chance to explore this chapter from different perspectives:

💜Abbey Booth – award-winning Personal Stylist, Style Storyteller & bestselling author
💚Karen Krawczyk – Leadership Coach, Connector, Author & co-host of Third Thursday Club
♥️Colette Meechan – Content Creator, aka Colette Burns-Meechan, with 33.5k followers on Instagram & co-host of TTC with Karen
💗Debbie Holley – former BBC Exec & Empowerment Coach

Four women. Four perspectives. One shared belief.

Midlife isn’t the end of your story. It’s your second chapter. 🎉

The three things I noticed about my summer outfits…

Here’s what I’ve been wearing recently and there are three things I noticed when I looked at these pics…

♥️The first is that I’m wearing more red than I have done for a long time. I had really fallen out of love with wearing it, even though I’d always say it’s my favourite colour. I first noticed I wasn’t wearing as much of it about a year ago when I’d reach for anything except red in my wardrobe. Something just felt ‘off’ with it, have you ever had that feeling?

I started to automatically reach for red again in late spring when I’d been feeling really tired after submitting my book. And when I did I noticed an immediate boost to my energy and my focus. I had used colour as a strategic tool to help me get out of a place of stuckness and it gave me a much-needed confidence boost and made me remember who I was and why I loved the power of red ♥️

👗The second thing I noticed was that most of the clothes that I’m wearing are from independent boutiques. I love supporting small businesses and as a former boutique owner myself, I know how tough retail can be and how amazing it is when someone supports you and shouts out your business! I’ve tagged them in the relevant pics so please do check them out…

🎉The third thing I noticed is how much I’ve been loving wearing shorts this summer. And what a summer to go all in on getting my legs out more?! I’ve even gone back to wearing a short skirt from Topshop I’ve owned for years and the world didn’t end, no-one laughed and my legs got tanned - win win 🙌

Sometimes the thing we fear is actually the voice in our head and ignoring it and doing it anyway is the most empowering choice you can make. 🎉

PS. I’ve been working behind the scenes on my autumn events this week - it promises to be a gorgeous season of style so if you’d like to be the first to know what’s on, simply DM me or comment EVENTS 👇

Hello I’m Abbey, great to meet you…

I’ve had a few new followers recently, so a big huge WELCOME to you!!🎉🙌🌈

These intro posts are always a great way to reintroduce yourself and also gave me a moment to reflect. I’ve spent the last 8-years building, creating and working ferociously on my business, Stories With Clothes, as I’m deeply passionate about empowering brilliant women to look and FEEL authentically and unapologetically themselves 🙌♥️🌈

You’ll usually find me rushing headlong into the next styling event, the next client project but this summer I’ve had to slow right down due to burn out, after writing my book, Don’t Save It For Best📕 This enforced slower pace has been hard to get used to as I adore styling and my beautiful business, but I promised myself I’d embrace it this summer. 🌻

So I’ve been learning Spanish which has been challenging but really great to get my brain learning and doing something else other than working all the time🇪🇸

One of my guilty pleasures is listening to detective novels, I’m a little bit obsessed and like to think I’d have made a great detective 🕵️🤣 I’ve even been known to draw out huge, intricate ‘murder boards’ which friends have found hilarious and worrying in equal measure!!

Did any of these fun facts surprise you? And I’d Iove to know more about you whether you’re new here or you’ve been here a while, share a surprising fact or a guilty pleasure and let’s have some fun 😜🙌👇

Perfect holiday reading…

Don’t Save It For Best, my bestselling book about midlife style confidence is now officially 2-months old, although it feels like a lot longer! 📚🎉🙌

I started mapping out the content on holiday last July and started writing in earnest in September 2025 when my daughter left home for University. It certainly went some way to fill the void she left behind 🥹Writing this book became a labour of love as I had the busiest autumn of my career as a stylist so the 7-day weeks began in earnest and if I’m honest I’m still recovering now. I poured my heart and soul into this book and in the process learned so much about myself as a stylist and as a person. ♥️

I got my first royalty payment last week and that felt pretty momentous. I made a pact with myself that I’d slow down this summer and enjoy the small moments, the wins and the milestones of becoming a published author. I wanted to reach more brilliant women to give them tools they can use and see a difference with easily and quickly. We all have busy lives and our style should support us on our journeys, not hinder, create stress, doubt or overwhelm us. I wanted to give back control of how we feel, show up and hold ourselves each and every day, from the small moments looking in the mirror in the morning and smiling back at ourselves to the big days where we need to FEEL our best. 🙌

Style is a way to communicate with the world; but first it’s how we talk with ourselves, how we choose to show up and not for approval from others (although compliments are lovely and we’ll always accept those graciously!) but for OURSELVES first and it’s the greatest form of self-love, acceptance and self-care that we can gift ourselves every single day.♥️

If you’ve read Don’t Save It For Best, I’d love to know your take-aways from it, what surprised you, what you’ve discovered/learnt 👇

And if you haven’t YET, but need a good holiday read, simply comment BOOK below and I’ll send you the link 👇📚💜

What are you really investing in when you book a styling experience with me?

It’s not just a day of shopping or sorting your wardrobe out, though they are definitely part of it! It’s the months and years afterwards when getting dressed feels joyful, exciting and a gift to yourself every single day, instead of overwhelm, boredom or confusion.

When Karen Blomma Beauty and I first shopped together back in the spring, it was about opening the door to colour, confidence and a wardrobe that felt authentically like her as she was stepping into a new phase with her business and in her personal life.

Months later, she’s sending me photos from a celebration, glowing and looking utterly wonderful in bright print dresses, with this beautiful note thanking me for helping her ‘step into more colour.’ And doesn’t she look glorious!! 🌈🙌🎉

Personal Styling is connecting with yourself on a deeper level and its rarely about one shopping trip. It’s about the slow unfurling of confidence and clarity. Learning what lights you up. Discovering colours that make you feel alive. Reaching for clothes that feel joyful and freeing, instead of safe. And building a wardrobe that keeps giving back, season after season.

The real transformation happens in all the moments afterwards, when you’re getting dressed without second guessing yourself, packing for holidays with ease, walking into events feeling completely at home in your own skin and enjoying style and fashion again.

That ripple effect is why I am so passionate about what I do and the incredible women I get to work with! ♥️

If you’re ready for a wardrobe that grows with you, rather than another quick fix, I’d love to help. 👇

🙌Autumn styling appointments are now open and dates are going quickly. Simply comment AUTUMN, send me a DM or use the link in my bio to book your styling experience. Your time is now!! 🙌

‘Oh, this old thing?’

Funny how often we utter those four words the moment someone gives us a compliment…

‘I love your outfit!’

And without even thinking, we reply:

‘Oh this old thing, it’s years old.’
‘It was only £7 on Vinted!’
‘I got it in the sale.’

Why do we do that? As if responding with ‘Thank you. I love this outfit too!’ would make us seem full of ourselves, too confident, rude or somehow arrogant.

So instead, we explain, we justify its price tag, we downplay the compliment instead of simply accepting it and enjoying the mutually shared enjoyment of the outfit.

Style is a conversation with yourself, it’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin, confidently taking up space. Being truly seen and receiving a compliment without feeling the need to apologise for it or making it smaller.

I learned a wonderful lesson many years ago when I received a compliment from an older, much wiser woman who was walking past me on the street and told me my outfit was gorgeous. I immediately responded in a self-deprecating manner, with details of where I’d bought it from.

She stopped, looked directly at me and said ‘I didn’t ask where it was from! Accept a compliment graciously and know that a great outfit can give joy to others’

And those words have been pivotal in how I receive a compliment. And then I pay it forward as I know how much a compliment can lift me up and you never know how much it might mean to someone else. You’ll always notice them standing taller, smiling wider and taking up space just that bit more ♥️

And this is why I love what I do as a Personal Stylist; the lasting impact is never just about the clothes. It’s about enabling women to feel so at home in themselves that receiving a compliment becomes perfectly normal 🙌

So the next time you receive a compliment, simply smile and say thank you!! ♥️
PS. This dress is 16-years old and has been on every family holiday since then so definitely deserves a compliment!! What an amazing dress 👗

One thing every client tells me they regret…

…is waiting so long to book!

And I get why, there’s lack of time and juggling all the balls of busy careers, roles and lives, the feeling that they should be able to do this for themselves, the guilt of spending money on themselves and of course the trust it requires to reach out and invite me into your world, your wardrobe and your life.

N spent months thinking about booking me before finally taking the leap. When we first spoke, she told me she felt completely disconnected from how she felt on the inside and how she was showing up at work.

She had recently been promoted and felt people were still seeing her as their colleague rather than a leader. She wanted to stay approachable but she also wanted to look and feel like the leader she already was without looking like someone else.

After spending the day shopping together and building outfits that actually worked for her life, everything shifted. She didn’t just leave with clothes she loved.

She left with outfits that finally synced with the woman she’d become and one of my favourite lines from her review is:

“I feel confident, polished and unapologetically taking up space. I genuinely stand taller as a result.”

Yasss!!! This is exactly why clients always tell me they wish they’d done it sooner.

Because waiting doesn’t make your wardrobe easier and it doesn’t make getting dressed any less frustrating; it jjust means you spend longer settling for a wardrobe that no longer fits your life.

🍂 If you’ve been thinking about an Autumn VIP Shopping Day, don’t wait until the season is in full swing. My diary is filling quickly and autumn dates are already going fast!

If you’re ready for a wardrobe that works for your lifestyle, your role and the woman you are becoming, send me a DM and let’s get your shopping day in the diary! 🛍️🛍️🛍️

Can we please stop behaving as though women’s bodies exist for public scrutiny?

The conversation this week about Marie-France van Heel’s lilac dress has been tedious, depressing and frankly, embarrassing. So many negative opinions about another woman’s body and most of them from other women. 😢

It’s a tummy. That’s it. A completely normal stomach on a woman living in a completely normal human body. Tummies accommodate organs, grow humans and nourish our bodies. Marilyn Monroe was celebrated for her curves and she didn’t have a flat stomach so why are we expecting women now in 2026 to have the stomach of a teenager? It’s all wrong.

Somewhere along the way we’ve decided women should always dress to disguise, minimise, flatter or apologise for their bodies. But why? Why is flattering treated as a moral obligation for women? I didn’t see anyone analysing Andy Burnham’s suit, stomach or physique. 🤷‍♀️

We’re still judging women as though their primary role is to be visually pleasing, whilst while men are simply allowed to turn up.

I’ve also seen people defending Marie-France by listing her achievements. Yes, she’s accomplished, brilliant and deserves recognition. But women shouldn’t have to present a CV before they’re considered worthy of basic respect and kindness.

When I look at these photos, I see confidence, warmth and presence. I see a woman standing beside the man she loves. And the way he looked at her? Everybody deserves to be looked at like that. ❤️

The problem isn’t the dress. It’s her choice, her body, her life. The problem is the belief that it’s acceptable to publicly dissect another woman’s body and suggest she should wear shapewear. Why?

Being in the public eye doesn’t make someone fair game for cruelty. Most people would never say these things to someone’s face. Let’s stop normalising this. It only feeds the patriarchy and keeps women busy policing each other, instead of lifting each other up and effecting real change that we desperately need.

Other women’s bodies are none of our business. 🙌

One of my greatest joys isn’t just helping women edit and refine their wardrobes, create outfits they love wearing, shop with confidence, or redefine their personal style…

It’s becoming their biggest cheerleader. 🎉

I had the privilege of attending my client Nila Mistry - Financial Life Planner Nila’s Summer Soirée event to celebrate and support her business success. Hearing her clients speak about the impact she’s had on their lives was heartwarming, funny and moving. The admiration, trust, and genuine love they have for her, reminded me of my why. ♥️

When I work with clients, I’m not looking for a one-time transaction. I’m investing in a long-term relationships, from wardrobe edits and personal shopping to style coaching and those “Can I wear this?” messages, I love being part of a clients journey as they grow both personally and professionally. ♥️

Watching my clients win feels like winning myself.🙌

I get to help women show up confidently and unapologetically, then I get a front-row seat to cheer them on as they thrive. 🎉🌈🙌
