A life-long Fifties lifestyle and fashion enthusiast, Vivien began sewing vintage-style clothes for herself at a mere ten years old. At eighteen, she opened her first shop in the world famous but now sadly gone Kensington Market, selling her hand-made 50s reproductions to fellow followers of 50's fashions. he Vivien of Holloway brand was born, and Vivien's signature Fifties style soon took the world by storm. Our focus has always been on producing beautiful dresses and separates with all the look and the charm of authentic vintage, but in a range of sizes to fit and flatter modern figures and ease of care to suit modern lifestyles. With period perfect fabrics and cuts only slightly adapted from genuine vintage styles, in Vivien of Holloway you can be transformed into a cheesecake pin-up, a femme fatale, a saucy Mad Men-era office girl, or a WWII working girl – the choice is yours! All our clothes are proudly made in the UK and are loved by well-dressed women (and men!) across the globe; from rockabilly gals and swing dancers, to re-enactors and even celebrities! As well as producing gorgeous vintage-style clothing, we also pride ourselves on good old-fashioned customer service. For us, it's not just about looking the part, it's about the whole lifestyle. We're just trying to make the world a more fabulous and glamorous place, day by day. It had a certain ambience... and lots of burly mechanics! However, we had our sights set higher, and so, in 2009, we opened up the first Vivien of Holloway boutique in our spiritual home – Holloway Road. The shop has quickly become a destination for any vintage-lovers visiting London. Fully stocked with the whole clothing line, it also contains all our special, limited edition fabrics and styles, and even has some of Vivien's own vintage collection for sale. As well as fabulous frocks and separates, the shop also carries a wide range of hair-flowers, jewellery, shoes, handbags and more, to help you complete your transformation into a real vintage starlet. Our friendly shop girls are always on hand to offer help and advice on everything from styling to accessorising. Do make sure you drop by next time you're in town!

Summer is here!
Our cute Motel print is just perfect.
Travelling across America when I was young I made a point of staying in old motels with great signs. It wasn’t always the best idea. It certainly left me with some great holiday stories.
One time the people in the room next door started fighting. The door slammed and the person shut outside said they were gonna go get a gun come back and shoot them. The police arrived, but the arguing continued right outside our room. I think the same motel was used in many music videos.
Needless to say, we didn’t stay another night. But unbelievably, I did go back and stay in the same hotel years later. Who can resist a big neon sign?
I bet you have a crazy holiday story too, don’t you?

We love a bit of customising.
This year has been a lot of fun so far. I dug out lots of half finished projects and banned my self from buying more fabric.
It’s time to focus on making up my fabric collection and finishing those projects.
Once we started making the catsuits we couldn’t resist customising them with some sparkly stars. And when Aisha came to us saying she was hosting a festival in Spain and needed something special to wear on stage, we couldn’t resist customising one of our beautiful Duchess satin sarongs for her.
Then I remembered the pink and black sparkle fabrics I had been hoarding to make catsuits. It’s so much fun. I hope you are all enjoying our new designs as much as we are enjoying making them.
Well I know you’re loving the new Tutti Fruity 2 piece nothing has sold this quick since we first released our Marilyn sweaters.

We are speeding up our pre-orders so you won’t wait too long.

So we know everything I make has a story. I’ve had this fabric for over 20 years. I made the samples 10 years ago. One of the shop girls had to come to help me in the office. We were working on this together.

A couple of weeks later out of nowhere she got a job doing Production at another brand.

Can you believe the first thing they put out?

Of course it was nowhere near as pretty as this. Not sure that’s possible coz this is absolutely darling.

Anyway, in annoyance it got put to the back of the queue.

But we found her again this year and I just have to make her.

This fabric is a really lovely cotton. You can feel the quality. Although I’ve had it 20 years, I think it was quite a lot older than that when I bought it.

The colours are so vibrant. I want to use it sparingly that’s why we’ve gone with pre-order.

So I hope you love it as much as I do 🍑🍌🍊🍎🍓🍍

I guess if you’d like the top classic instead of cropped, we could do that too.
