A huge heartfelt THANK YOU 💚 to the fabulous customers and staff at The Fent Shop Macclesfield for making drainage bags for patients at East Cheshire NHS Trust undergoing surgery for breast cancer. The breast care nurses alerted us to low availability so an appeal was put out to Rachel and Kate at The Fent Shop in Macclesfield. Their customers responded positively and we took delivery of the first batch from Shirley. Pictured here are Claire with Shirley. We are so grateful for this local support.

Drain bags (often called drain dollies) hold and conceal surgical fluid drains after breast procedures like mastectomies or reconstruction. These soft, lightweight pouches feature long straps to be worn cross-body or around the waist, keeping heavy tubes secure to prevent accidental pulling.These bags are widely used during the initial 1-2 weeks of recovery to make mobility and daily tasks easier.

One of our customers just came in and cheered us up on this dreary day with this amazing appliqué waistcoat she made out of black needlecord and lots of bits of other material! Isn’t it absolutely beautiful!

We’ve had an overwhelming response to our shout out for drain bags for the Christie in Macclesfield! Thank you to our lovely customers! We also had a few questions if there is a deadline - there is none!

In time for this hot weather we had a big delivery of lovely cotton lawns. Cotton lawns are the softest and finest cottons you can get, perfect for summer dresses, shirts, blouses and kids clothes! Which one is your favourite?

Small lampshade kits are finally back in stock 🥳! We love making a lampshade! You need barely any fabric for them and most materials (even velvet) are suitable for them…

As of this weekend we are officially in summer! And just in time we seem to be getting some warmer weather… We have all the right materials for you - linen, cotton poplin, cotton lawn, double gauze, denim, viscose, shirting… Perfect for summer blouses, shirts, shorts, dresses and lightweight summer jackets and gilets!

The Christie in Macclesfield would like our help! They need more of these simple drain bags for breast cancer patients following their mastectomies. We provide the pattern and all info for them here at the shop. The bags have to be made to the pattern we provide. We used one of our polycottons for the outer and lining of the bag, but any fabric remnants will work. The finished bags need to be returned directly to the Christie or to us. We are giving customers who pick up a pattern and make these drain bags 10% off our polycottons this week!
