so proud to have walked a marathon Markethill to Ardboe with Charlie Magill who walked 14 of them Cork to Glenarm on consecutive days ..the length of Ireland ..a total of 364 miles ..as he put it ..to 'start the conversation ' about Parental Alienation .. the very specific activity of brainwashing a child to reject key people with whom they have a loving bond.. usually carried out by a parent and usually targeting another parent/grandparent/close family ..a cause close to my heart..I knew instantly I wanted to become involved ..it was tough going but we stayed the distance at pace with the Charlie man leading the field..and some superfit walkers keeping up the morale for the rest of us Ryan Robinson PT are you reading this? ..we are now officially Charlies angels.. and speaking of angels ..that support crew? mostly the Magill family in vehicles on hand with supplies and good humour..and not forgetting the angel who sent me the link about in the first place .. you know who you are!! ..each story is unique and different but for those trapped in this senseless preventable situation the issues are the same .. now the walk is finished and the conversation has definitely started ..that is what he set out to achieve and that is exactly what he did .. Often in our journey through life we meet the most extraordinary people in the most unexpected places. Walking through the door of the Watts and Stone factory Lisnaskea over a quarter of a century ago carrying sample coats and patterns it was assessed straightaway that this was a case for the one and only Mairead Spratt. She took us under her wing and a lot of hard work a lot of laughs and many lectures later we had prototypes of precision which have stood the test of time to this day. The lectures didn't end there either!! When she realised we were supplying coats to Mary Robinson she made it clear that nothing would be going to the 'Household of the President' or anywhere else for that matter without the seal of approval from Mairead!! It was a privilege to be included in the display of her work at the most appropriate tribute to her and to finally put faces to the names she spoke about so fondly. She would have been chuffed to bits to know that she had as Fr Anthony put it 'enhanced the lives of many' and that the model in this picture is from her beloved Fermanagh. God bless you Mairead and may you forever and a day Rest in Peace. xx Winnie Magee Grace Wallace
