in italy, august belongs to ferragosto.

workshops close, cities empty and the usual rhythm of making gives way to long summer days, time with family and friends, good food and the pleasure of doing very little.

our workshop closes too, and over the years we have come to build our own august rhythm around it.

production falls quiet. we return to research, sampling, materials and ideas, and considering what comes next, with a little of our own ‘dolce far niente’ along the way.

union square and west 28th street, between sixth and seventh avenues, - home to new york’s flower district.

go early. the best flowers arrive overnight, and for a few hours the pavements become one of the most beautiful streets in the city.
