Here are the two sides of the Rachis Vest from the Versa Vest Collection.

It's a reversible striped fabric, worked flat with two colours in Tunisian Crochet. It's a beginner-friendly, subtly striped vest or vest top or tank top, or whatever you call it in your part of the world, which has a yoke with contrast stripes to that of the body, completely reversible with different colour predominant on each side.

I had to take a break from the design process of Versa Vest Collection to complete the video editing for the Sand Dune Square which was released last week. Before the break, I was writing the pattern for this Rachis Vest.

Today when I wanted to continue writing the pattern, it's all like alien for me. πŸ˜€ This is the first time, I have taken a very long break in-between the pattern writing process. I thought this is a simple pattern and can pick it up anytime later. It was a wrong decision and I am going to waste time in doing the numbers all over again. Hope I had planned it properly.

Sand Dune Square is released today, which is one of the square (Square 14) in the Tunisian Blanket CAL 2022 hosted by Knitter Knotter

The technique used in this Sand Dune Square have been inspired by the Canadian Smocking of woven fabrics, so we may call this technique as Tunisian Crochet Smocking, which serves as an alternative to the tunisian cables, by giving a good embossed fabric but easier to work. This technique was first used in the Rimaye Cowl, published in the Interweave Crochet, Winter 2020.

Sand Dune Square is the best way to practice this technique in a simple square with two modules. There are endless interesting possibilities and mutations to create different designs, patterns and projects with this Tunisian Crochet Smocking.

I am done with the Design Swatches for the Versa Vest Collection. How do they look? Do you like it? Which one do you like the most?

If you are familiar with Tunisian Crochet stitches, you might very well know or worked with these stitches already, which you see in these swatches.

Nothing fancy, right? Yes! I wanted to keep it very simple, so that many would try their hands-on in these projects, explore Tunisian Crochet, be it crocheters or knitters, be it a newbie or an expert! Normally my designs are well appreciated but not much made, so I wanted to change that πŸ˜‰β€οΈ

All the four design swatches are worked with a single basic stitch and not a stitch pattern. That means it’s a one stitch repeat through out the project.

I told you already that all four designs has reversible fabric, so stay connected to see the reverse of these swatches and to know which swatch is for which vest !

New Country, New Home, New Projects!

It's been 5 months since I have worked on any crochet project, be it designing or literally working with yarn. But this Versa Vest Collection was in my mind for quite a while.

Versa Vest Collection is a collection of four vests,
- Tunisian Crochet of course! ❀️
- with Reversible Fabric!
- Basic Vests for Everyday Wardrobe!
- Simple and very easy Construction!

The idea behind this collection sparked just to honour the very basic reversible vest with two colors (the fourth from left pictured) which was rejected twice as a design proposal in two different magazines and got selected the third time along with the Cross-front Vest (the third from left pictured). But unfortunately I couldn't make it work for the yarn to reach me. So the project was dropped again. I am not in a mood to write up another proposal with the same design, but wanted to make it special and that's how this design collection happened.

So the two among the four was already designed in terms of the silhouette, yarn weight and the stitch pattern. I decided on the silhouette of the other two to suit a very basic everyday wear, which is one of the concept of this design collection and working on the stitch pattern which would be reversible as well. I am choosing yarn from my stash for all of them to work on the gauge swatch. I am stern enough to use the yarn in my stash only.

This may not be the design process that I usually do, but I will be sharing the basic progress from designing to the FO, as I work in this Collection. So follow along if you are interested to know. ❀️
