We're three very relatable ladies with vastly different fashion interests, but that's exactly what makes this work. We design the outfits jointly and can target most populations, with Megan introducing casual tomboy fashion, Alexus contributing quirky, festival fashion, and Lisa-Marie's contribution being colourful, sparkles, sequins, and eye-catching quotes or images. We are excited about RECY-CH
IC because it allows us to feed our creative juices while also conveying a tale, where possible, through the garments we recycle, that most people can identify with. RECY-CHIC provide a fresh, new, and vibrant life to all the garments that may have been ripped up in rage, destroyed, thrown away, abandoned, or left hanging in a wardrobe, never to be worn again. Our garment journeys may seem far-fetched to some, after all, it is just a piece of clothing, right? The RECY-CHIC philosophy is based on the idea that if clothes could talk, they would have an amazing and sometimes sad story to tell; unfortunately, we don't know all of them, but we see them as pre-loved, once worn with confidence and pride, worn for significant and memorable occasions, or bought, handed down, or donated by loved ones. Unfortunately, and for whatever reason, they become no longer loved items, wearable goods, or are items that you don't know what to do with because they were an inherited garment from someone, and for whatever reason that person is no longer in your life. It's possible, as mentioned above, and as you'll see in some of these posts, that an ex-partner you once loved and adored did you wrong, hurt you, and broke your heart, and you just can't get rid of the clothes because the item is too good to throw away, and the memories attached won't let you. It's also possible that you no longer wear the item and have no idea what to do with it, so you store it in the back of your closet. There, it hangs alongside other garments, reminding you of your never-fulfilled promise to wear it again. We found ourselves meeting all the above reasons, we pondered on clothes that we loved but knew we were either too old for, would never fit us again, hold sentimental value and beautiful memories, or where an ex’s that brought torment into our lives, and instead of throwing them out, adding to the overwhelming donations to charity, or destroying them in anger, RECY-CHIC was born. We wanted our items to be brought into the 20th century, festival, funky, head turning statement pieces, that bring someone joy, confidence, and new memories. By documenting their journey, RECY-CHIC hope to show our customers that there is more than one way to refresh their closet. This not only helps us contribute to deserving causes, but it also allows us to design RECY-CHIC products with everyone in mind, regardless of age or gender. We at RECY-CHIC are not professional designers or seamstresses; rather, we do this for the love of clothes. We can appreciate how a person's choice of outfit that day may dramatically alter the individual’s demeanour, self-assurance, mood, and social status. Sometimes without even realising it, the clothes we wear might be interpreted as a reflection of our inner state or as a demonstration of how we've chosen to be labelled in society. As a result, we decided to depict the journey of each item we recycle through images, allowing you to recognise the work, love, and joy that the RECY-CHIC team have put into all the garments, demonstrating whether big or small, their transformations, evidencing that you will be buying a truly unique item of clothing, with no two items being the same. Therefore, we have chosen to visually depict the process of recycling each individual item, so that you may appreciate the care and attention to detail that the RECY-CHIC team has given to each and every piece of clothing, from the initial garment to the final product.
