Whilst it might seem counterintuitive to set up a new children's clothing store at a time when overconsumption and waste from the apparel world is at an overwhelming level, it was my frustration at the fast fashion industry, at the disposable clothing culture, the vast amount of synthetic clothing in shops and the lack of interest in the impact of this and the chemicals used in production that inspired me.

Between 80-150 billion clothes are made each year, and at least 40% of those items aren't even sold initially. The UN Environment Programme estimate we are buying 60% more clothing today and wearing it half as long. And approx 57% of what we buy ends up in landfill across the world. This makes up approx. 10% of all greenhouse gases.

About 60% of the clothes produced are made from synthetic fibres, which take between 8 and 80 times longer to decompose than natural ones.

This is why I'm committed to making small batch (1-5) and made to order items only, predominantly made of cotton and natural fibres. I dont want to add to the already growing waste problem, but I do want to offer kids clothing that is kinder to skin and the planet. I try to buy remnant or end of line fabrics to reduce waste. If items don't sell, I repurpose the leftover fabric into other items and gift any clothing to children who will benefit from them.
