Fourteen years ago, I made a keepsake bear for my nephew's first birthday. I never imagined that one bear would grow into Sew It Don't Throw It, a business that would become such a huge part of my life.
Over the last 14 years, I've had the privilege of creating keepsakes from your most treasured clothing, baby grows, school uniforms, wedding dresses, and the clothes of loved ones no longer with us. 😔
Thank you for trusting me with memories that can never be replaced. It has truly been an honour.
Some of you will know that in January, my beautiful little brother, Drew, was cruelly taken from us. 💔
He wasn't just my brother. He was my biggest supporter. He shared my work with pride, encouraged me when orders were quiet, helped me when I was swamped, he celebrated every success, and often sat beside me helping prepare orders.
Since losing him, I've tried to imagine returning to sewing, but I can't. My heart simply isn't in a place where I can create the keepsakes that every customer deserves.
So, with an incredibly heavy heart, I've made the decision to close Sew It Don't Throw It.
This isn't the ending I ever wanted, but it feels like the right decision for me.
To every single customer who has supported my little business over the last 14 years, whether you placed an order or several, shared my work, recommended me to others, or simply followed along, thank you. You allowed a hobby that started with one special bear to become something I was so incredibly proud of.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I'll always be grateful.
