An empty chair shouldn't be part of my working week.
Today was the third one-to-one workshop in a row where the person booked simply didn't arrive.
No message. No cancellation. No explanation.
I know life happens. Emergencies happen. People get poorly. Plans change. None of that is the issue.
The issue is not letting someone know.
When you book a one-to-one with me, I reserve that time exclusively for you. I don't book another customer, I don't catch up on shop work, I don't spend that time with my family or doing the hundred other jobs that come with running a small business, or just running a house.
I'm not a big company with staff covering appointments. It's just me.
Those workshops take place outside my normal working hours because I want to make learning crochet and knitting accessible to people who can't visit during the day or find large groups difficult. I choose to give up my own evenings to do that.
So when someone simply doesn't turn up, that time is gone. It can't be filled, and it can't be given back.
If you need to cancel, that's okay. Just let me know. A quick message takes seconds, and it allows me to use that time in another way.
Please remember that behind every small business is a real person whose time matters too.
Thank you to everyone who does turn up, messages if they're running late, or lets me know when plans change. I appreciate you more than you probably realise. โค๏ธ
