🐾 THEY NEED OLD TOWELS 🐾

If you have a stash of old towels you no longer need, they would be grateful to take them off your hands.

🙏🏻 Drop them off at your local Hope Rescue charity shop, or bring them to the centre (the centre is closed to the public on Wednesdays)

I always try to put the same type of hem back on when I shorten a garment. This skirt had a 4" deep hem with a separate piece of fabric called a facing to give extra support as the fabric was so delicate. So I had to unpick the facing, shorten the skirt then sew the facing back on. I try to make it seem as if I had never been there!

Phew! I had to shorten a dress with a very full skirt, it had 3m of hem to be precise! But it was much more than 3m to sew. I had to turn up and sew the 3m hem once, then trim off the xs, fold and sew a second time with strips of tissue as it was too slippery. Then that had to be torn off once I'd finished! So about 18 m of work!!

This gorgeous summer skirt was too long and had a band around the bottom. So what to do??
I cut the band off, cut the 5" required off the skirt and removed that. Then joined the band back on the the now shortened skirt. Lovely!
