Solent Sewing Machines was opened in the 1960s by the present owner, Ian Jenkins' Grandfather to service the local clothes manufacturing industry. Times have changed with the shift in the clothing industry to Eastern Europe and Asia but our ethic remains the same, to make our customers the priority in everything that we do and to supply the best quality and most reliable machines. tschmann AG, Zurich, in the 1980s through to 2005, Ian Jenkins designed and innovated new machines and equipment for sailmakers who required long arm and special heavy duty machines, and sold them for Jentschmann worldwide. In 2005 on Mr Jentschmann's retirement and the company's change in direct to welding equipment, Solent purchased the long arm sewing machine business from Jentschmann AG and began to manufacture the same high quality machines in the UK. Solent have continued this and produced hundreds of long arm machines for sailmakers, tent / marquee manufacturers, cover makers as well as many other sectors. Solent now manufacture the Solent Ocean range of machines - available only from Solent and our authorized agents. This extra heavy duty machine has new technical innovations designed with the larger sail manufacturer (super and mega yacht sails) in mind. In 2004 we started our representation of Miller Weldmaster in the UK after we were approached by sewing customers who also had welding requirements and Miller Weldmaster asked us to work with them. We have gone on to supply many standard and automated systems to companies across many industries. Solent have been sole UK distributor for Seiko Industrial Sewing machines since 2002 and were very pleased to be asked to represent Durkopp Adler sewing machines in the UK in 2013. at Solent Sewing & Welding we offer the following
