🖤 My Curiosity Collection: Lillibet

Some curiosities that come to me don’t leave again. Sometimes I get attached!
I thought I’d start sharing little pieces of my own collection, along with the stories surrounding them. I’d love to hear any information, knowledge or insight you might have too.
So, let’s meet my first doll… Lillibet. 🖤

Lillibet is an antique porcelain baby doll, believed to date from around 1910–1920 and possibly made in England or Germany.
She has a beautifully cracked porcelain face, a lace-trimmed bonnet and a long white gown. There’s something about her that immediately caught my attention…I just couldn’t resist that cheeky face looking at me from the antique crib.
I bought Lillibet from the wonderful local curiosity shop The Raven & Broomstick
While she was there, customers reported seeing her head move. On one occasion, the shop owner, Lilly, arrived at the shop one morning to find Lillibet sitting on the floor outside her cabinet.

Since bringing her home, I’ve had my own little experience with Lillibet.
I’ve seen what appeared to be the shadow of a child at the bottom of my stairs.
I’ve also been told by a trusted wise woman that a child named Elizabeth — or Lillibet — is attached to the doll. She described the little girl as wafer-thin, in need of a good meal and a bath.
Bless her. 🖤

I don’t know exactly who Lillibet belonged to, or what stories she could tell if she could speak.
But perhaps that’s part of the fascination.
If you know anything about dolls like Lillibet, her possible maker, age or history, I’d absolutely love to hear from you.
Perhaps together we can uncover a little more of her story. 🖤

🎭 The Jester (sound on 🔈)

Not everything in a curiosity shop sits quietly...some perform.

This wonderfully theatrical musical jester dances from his velvet box to an enchanting tune, bringing a little magic—and perhaps a little mischief—with every performance.

He’s the kind of object that makes you pause, smile, and wonder where he’s been before finding his way to Rambling Curiosities.

🎭 Available now.
Message The Raven & Broomstick and quote ‘Rambling Curiosities Crypt’ if you’d like to give this curious soul a new home.
